These internet comments back then look exactly like they do now.

"ESPN rigged the voting"

"Clearly they hate UT"

"Peyton came back and still lost, haha"

"Who is going to the Garth Brooks concert tonight?"

Manning faded down the stretch

Manning’s stats for the final four games of the year:
82-140
1,319 yards
13 touchdowns
4 interceptions

The Vandy game was a o little rough, but I don’t think faded is a good way to describe how he finished the year.

The way ESPN/ABC shilled for Woodson was shameful. I had forgotten what a panel of douchebags "The Sports Reporters" was.

Auburn, in true auburn fashion, gagged that Sec championship away so hard

If Woodson deserved it in '97, which I argue but I get it, Mathieu deserved it in '11. He was more impactful without having to gimmick his way trying to play wr. His PR against UGA was just as momentum changing and his defensive impact was bigger than Woodsons. Mathieus impact through popularity(honey badger takes what he wants) was made to win that year and they robbed him.
97 is one of the best groups ever. Excellent group

Woodson had about 11 catches on the SEASON. He really wasn’t a two-way player. They may have shown every one of his catches for the year.

Champ Bailey in the next year was a true two way player.

I think Mathieu being suspended for the Auburn game hurt his chances a lot.

Tennessee barely beat a bad auburn team in sec championship game 30-29. That was an awful showing by them.

How on Earth do you categorize that Auburn team as "bad?"

You mean the Auburn team that was 9-2 and ranked 11th in the country?

He has some of the worst takes I’ve ever seen in my life. I used to think he was a troll, then I realized he’s just an abject moron.

Heisman voters watched espn to see most games at that point. Limited live tv coverage, sports center was awesome back then.

Fantasy football was not online, but official stats were per the USA Today stats in print.
