I’m still working on getting every card in the 1991 Fleer baseball factory set signed. I’m closing in on 500 of the 720 card set.
I have some HoFers:
Sandberg
Larkin
Glavine
Randy Johnson
Edgar Martinez
Molitor
etc…
Some obscure guys that don’t live in the US, and some of the guys you were bound to name with your childhood buddies…Paul O’Neill, Jack McDowell, Jeff Reardon.
It’s interesting that some of the most difficult to find or obtain can be guys that only played a partial season. The chase is fun.

3 day show in Nashville, this weekend

Nah. It had a crazy amount of hype around it and the Pokémon market is higher than ever. It was pretty much guaranteed to go for 10 million, the bidding just got higher than most expected.
The guy has the money to buy a 16 million dollar card so i don't think he has to worry about it but it's easy a card you just put in the safe and in 20 years it'll be worth double. Pretty safe investment actually.

How was Nashville?
Another big Veriswap trade in the books.
Sent out a Kobe Star date bgs 9 RC for these two Jordan’s. Card ladder value on the Kobe was 1.5k and the slam cam is 1.3 and reign man $700. Felt like I did good.

I have every single card in these sets:
1994 Topps
1993 Upper Deck
1992 Stadium Club
1991 Stadium Club
1994 Stadium Club
1991 Upper Deck
1994 Collector’s Choice
1994 Pinnacle
1989 Bowman
1989 Upper Deck
Have never gone through the entirety of any set but did check to make sure they were all there and they were.
ETA: Also have a ton of football cards and roughly 10 jerseys autographed in shadow boxes. Bo Jackson, Dre Greenlaw, Clinton Portis, etc. Too much to display. Roughly 85 McFarlane NFL action figures. Some opened, some in the case. All on shelves in the mancave.

Pisses me off that my house burned down my senior year in 1989. My father had some good Willie Mays cards, and it wasn't even his good set. I had 1980 Rickey Henderson Topps rookie. 1983 Boggs and Gwynn rookies as well as Ryne Sandberg. Had many other rookies. Sucks bad.
And many, many more

I went to the Nashville show at the Fairgrounds but didn't have much time or money to spend. Lots of tables and cards. Walked by some dorky looking guy with a briefcase and overheard him claiming he just bought $75,000 worth of cards. I thought, yeah, right. Later I saw him at his booth and he had several '52 Mantles and many other 5 and 6 figure cards. Just insane.
I bought about 40 commons from 1956 and 50 from 1958. The set building continues.

I used to eat sleep and breathe sports cards from around 96-2008. When I found out my collection was gone I could never bring myself to start back from the bottom. I mostly collected football, but I had over 40 Kove rookies including a chrome refractor and in football the full Bowman set with the Tom Brady rookie and I didnt even have it in a top loader at the time. I still keep up with the hobby pretty good though. I cant believe how expensive it has gotten. I remember when exquisite was 1st released as a real high end wax. I wish I'd invested in it especially the LeBron patch auto rookie.
Appreciate you guys posting your mail. I wish prices would go back

Same thing here. House fire in 89 but I had just graduated in the spring and was in college that fall. Had a box of the similar cards.

Sorry man, that does suck.
I will say, if you ever wanted to buy some of those again for sentimental sake, most of those can be had fairly cheap if you buy them raw/not mint condition. You can find those Boggs, Sandberg, Clemons, Bonds for $10 all day long.

Talked to him many times. Bought my 1953 Satchel Paige from his as well. His collection makes you drool. There's pretty much no dollar amount that he's not willing to spend to buy if you walk up to his table with good vintage.
He had a high dollar collection stolen at the Dallas Card Show a while back, over 100K worth. I'm sure he had insurance on them but I don't think they ever caught the guy.

Yea I don't open boxes anymore. Singles you can still find good deals on but ripping stuff is just ridiculous. Megas at Walmart for $100, Prizm hobby boxes for 1k. Covid ruined opening boxes because all the scalpers. Non sport stuff like Game of Thrones, some Star Wars and marvel, if you're into that kind of thing still can be opened at a reasonable price.

The price for boxes is out of hand, and the fanatics takeover has caused some problems with Topps (shocker!). You spend $30 on a blaster box and do good to get $5 worth of product. The only recent base cards for baseball that are worth money are Ohtani rookies.

So to anyone that collects and follows the hobby I have a question about a certain card. The Billy Ripken F F card, shouldn't that card have soared in value?
Posted on 2/27/26 at 2:25 pm to dblwall
What would make them soar?
Just looking at sold prices, last year around this time a PSA 8 version was averaging around $100-120 and now they are about $110-130. So not too much of a jump. There just so many of them, there's 1-2 that sell every da on eBay.

Why would it soar? It's a highly printed card, plenty out there, and error cards aren't really that sought after. It's a niche card at best

Aren't blasters of chrome like $50 now and megas $85?
Yea, it's out of control
