It definitely is a personality thing but there are tons of bad actors in the space.

Fanatics the chief dog. It’s lost its luster to me. Maybe I’ll comeback when my son is older and we do it differently. I definitely was more card dealer than collector

Seems like Fanatics, Panini, and breakers have done alot of damage to the normal collector...

Products from Fantatics are like buying scratch offs at this point...
I saw some breakers busted 23 or so 1 of 1s on NFL Topps Chrome Sapphire. That pretty much kills the product. Yeah there are some chase cards still available, but like lottery tickets, if a majority of the big prizes have been claimed, I'm buying something else.

Panini puts out an awful product and has always been bottom shelf IMO. Very few inserts have truely game used or player worn memorabilia, yet collectors are led to believe different. Never felt there was any long term value in their product.

The plummet after release day is wild.

My daughter is obsessed with softball/baseball so I bought a bowman blaster on release day recently. Pulled an Ohtani insert that I was not interested in keeping. Look on ebay, 9am first sale $75.....11am $45......1pm $30...etc

I ended up selling it for like $15 the next day. I dont keep a dime of what I make when I sell. If I have anything of decent value, I usually sell on ebay and use that to buy something that I want.

If I get bored ill hop on and try to sell a few on Whatnot but its usually a bust.

That last show in Shreveport was suuuper cramped and probably 80% TCG, I was tripping over pokemon nerds with massive backpacks the entire time.

Ahh it wasn't that bad. More Pokemon than ever but definitely not 80% TCG. I think it makes it seem worse is a lot of the Shreveport show guys are now dabbling in TCG. That's definitely still one of the better non mega shows for sports though. Especially his big show.

That was the first show I ever went to, had a freaking blast.

I think I spent 8 hours there on Saturday selling and buying. There was a shop vendor from Alexandria set up in the middle, towards the back that had phenomenal $1,3,5 boxes.

Good episode the other day btw...

So freaking fun. I was dying to go walk around but was at my booth all weekend. Do you know if you happen to have come to my booth?

I sure did, it got me interested in looking for non sports cards like you have. Childhood nostalgia type autos and stuff.

That's awesome. I don't know if I'll do the show in August but at least will do next years big show, definitely say hey again when that show rolls around.

And most of the people aren't collecting Pokemon, they are just in it to flip. 99% of Pokemon "collectors" couldn't tell you how to play the actual game.

It's a collectible first, card game second. And I (ashamedly) played Pokemon at a pretty high competitive level

The "Hobby" is multi faceted. You should stop ripping and buying to flip or whatever and just collect what you like.

People get so caught up in the OMG muh profits!!! Instead of just sitting down and enjoying the damn cards.

Some of my pickups from a show yesterday. Having to change my buying strategy for now since PSA has shut down bulk grading.

Can anyone shed some light on this card?

It’s a Stanton Cyberstats insert. That black X is printed on the card. It doesn’t look like it is stamped, but it’s possible.

I pulled this from an Topps Archives blaster box.

It is missing a layer or 2 of print graphics and obviously his name is unfinished.

I have searched everywhere and haven’t even seen a single other card with this. I even emailed Topps and they dodged the question about the black X.
