The original thread got the ax. But I had a special moment with my son tonight so I went to post about it.

I started back collecting baseball and football cards with my son about 2 years ago. He is 9 now. It has been a blast.

Our biggest pull to date is an Ohtani 2026 Bowman Chrome Electric Sluggers Insert - Red Mojo # 3/5
The only sale to date is the guy who had the 4/5 and it sold for $5K. It was a great moment for us.

But tonight was awesome. I had decided to splurge on a single hobby box of Topps Chrome during the pre order.

It delivered last week and we decided to rip it after supper tonight.

We are about 4 packs deep and I am scanning cards on eBay to check values, when I hear my son gasp.

Now. We have about 20 players that we collect no matter if it’s a base card or a rare hit. One of those players is Jacob Miziorowski. He loves the rookie and rightfully so.

It was an oh shite moment for us both.

This hobby will bring you to your knees in today’s world. But thankfully I can still enjoy it and invest in it bc I share it with my boy.

What does a box like that run and how many cards does it come with? Just curious

The box was $250. 80 cards

1 guaranteed auto (I got actually got 2 autos but the other was nothing crazy. Prob a $10 card)

I also hit a Murakami insert and an Ohtani refractor

Basically I got an insanely good hobby box 10x its value in just 3 cards. Which is rare.

Normally you will get close to your $250 in value.
