@KellyCrandall
“I joined with the idea it would be my forever home. … That was really where my heart was and that didn’t play out. But there was a lot of good things that did happen.” - Keselowski on RFK
The discussions began about 11 months ago on the future. Keselowski wanted to keep driving and doing the competition stuff but it became clear “my partners saw that differently.” It was a difference of opinion on the path forward.
Keselowski reveals it’s a 20% equity he has in the team.
On his opportunities, there are “a number” in the Cup Series for next season. “I’m not ready to retire or walk away from the sport.”
Keselowski will be selling his equity as he goes forward into his next opportunity.
“Racing in the 2027 is still not a guarantee to me.” It would be devastating if it doesn’t happen, and he knows there is a lot of work to do to get it done.
“The road is clear.”
It was “about an hour ago” that Keselowski was granted his release. That clears the way to find something to race next year.
Keselowski is clear to race for any team and any manufacturer.
Although he remains confident something will be worked out for next year, Keselowski acknowledges it’s going to be a grind to get it done. And he does not have anything signed yet.
“I could see a scenario where something doesn’t develop until February 2027.”
Is Truck Series ownership an option B for Keselowski?
"I would not say option B. I would not say option A. I have interest in staying in the Cup Series in a meaningful way. I have a lot of interest in the triple crown. I have a lot of opportunities and we'll see how they pan out."
Is Brad Keselowski Racing coming back to Trucks?
"There's a strong chance with no certainty," adding that he has all the assets needed to do so.
The partners he secured in the attempt to purchase RFK Racing have a lot of interest in team ownership somewhere and those options are presenting themselves in real time.
Keselowski said he hasn't had any meaningful conversations with Dodge/RAM but he is open to anything.
He was ready to go scorched earth lol

Keselowski says this news conference is "me signaling to the industry" that he now is able to move forward. Again, this all changed an hour ago when he got his release and this news conference could have had a decidedly different tone otherwise.

Keselowski had this press conference scheduled for almost a week, not just an hour. But he got his release an hour ago. Did the press conference play a role in getting the deal done? Brad: "Would the topic have been different without the release? Probably. Yes, it would have."

My note: He can’t trash RFK today because he owns 20% and needs to sell it. So needs to be careful what he says to not devalue that stake for selling. This tells any maker he can race for them as he has a release, which I think is the fastest way to get word out. And he will bring a lot of money into any team he joins.
He can’t bring in a sponsor that he brought to RFK though, so will have to find new ones.
I bet once he sells we’ll see more inside stuff but he has to still be careful due to future sponso relationships later down the road once he retires. He may want to make money after retirement from say Ford. So once he sells he can call out the team but not Ford or sponsors. Walking a tightrope

I’m thinking Brad goes to Kaulig in some capacity.

Everything he answered is vague to say the least but understandable given his circumstances. It’s great that he still wants to drive in the cup series even though a part of me wants him to be a legitimate truck series owner and driver again.

He had to be vague. The release is verbal as it just happened. He also has to be careful not trashing because he needs to fond new sponsors and they may not like if he trashed old ones. So he was very careful not to burn bridges.
I bet he ends up with a truck team. And will find a Cup team solely due to bringing money plus will bring name recognition which is great for sponsors. But any Cup team he goes to will need to compare existing sponsors so no lawsuits later on.
Not sure if it means a main sponsor nor how far it goes. Will be interesting but today tells teams he can race for any MNFR, so we’ll start hearing rumors is my guess

But why compete in cup with a tier 2 or below team when he could be lights out in trucks? I thought he was tired of never competing for wins with RFK. This would put him in his current position or worse.

If Brad has the backing to make a run at RFK he's not going to a tier 2 program unless he buys their charters. With the ruling on charters, they clearly have much more value now.
It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.
Hell, he may go be the primary truck program for Dodge in anticipation of thier move to Cup. Given him specifically mentioning truck racing this is probably the most reasonable outcome.

Maybe he does both. Create a truck team and hire a driver. Have another team “at will” where he can drive on occasion.
Then use Cup as a money fund. Eventually he goes full truck with 2 or 3 teams then starts a NOAP team. And so on. I think Cup would help fund his truck team.

So here’s a wild theory I just thought about.
Brad starts a new cup team. With Dodge. And Dana white joins as a co owner. NASCAR awards Brad a charter for the team at a negotiated rate with all current charter holders.
Brad fields the #29 Dodge charger under the name: Brad Keselowski racing with Dana white.
There is zero evidence to support it, but Brad is an out the box thinker.

Brad’s RFK run seems to have gone the way most things with Roush go.
Someone is hired
Significant improvements begin
New guy wants to keep changing things and improving more
Roush says no thanks, I’m too cheap and am not willing to cede any more control
Falling out ensues
Will be this way until he dies next week, next month, or next century.

Quote of the night by Sam Mayer: “This is my track. I was there. They can go F themselves.” (After spinning Clements and H. Burton)
Mayer finished 5th at Martinsville and now sits 97 points back from Allgaier and is 6th in the points.
I guess he tried to channel his inner Dale Earnhardt Intimidator.
I don’t know why Jr. is signing him back to JRM other than $$$.

Mayer is a douche. Will never get a cup ride with that attitude.

Race was great last night it had so much shot going on constantly.
I swear, NOAPS reminds of old Nascar. Great characters. Lots of good racing. A bunch of wreckers or checkers type mentality. So many emotional decisions. A great booth crew. Great camera work (meaning they are in sync with booth).
Drivers really have no filter. Not just in words but in actions. Lots of pushing and shoving last night. This track brings out the devil inside drivers and I absolutely love it.
I could never properly express it but NOAP just has it. And the presentation matters. The booth dictates so many things in what to show. Camera director follows lead of booth in what to highlight or replay. And operators are so tuned in to booth they follow their lead.
I hope they keep this crew. Trucks suck with Jamie and Mouthpiece. Cup is bland with 2 voices that sound similar. One of them hangs his words and acts like every remaining viewer has never watched.. opposite is true, the viewers are most likely the Last of the Mohicans, Nascars most loyal long term viewers.
Anyways, just wanted to comment about stuff. And I enjoyed the race.

In the context of what happened leading up to it, I think Meyer was right. People don’t realize how much banging goes in all race and drivers have a red line point. He reached his in that moment.

You and I are in agreement that the NOAPS puts on the best racing out of the 3 series. I’ve watched more NOAPS races than ever before and can count the number of races Ive missed on one hand. Everything about the NOAPS is outstanding in comparison to cup and trucks.

I understand what you’re saying about the nature of Martinsville, but if Mayer is going to say something bold like that he had better back it up with results (which he didn’t). I just found that a little amusing.
He’s a good driver, don’t get me wrong, but he’s no Love, Kvapil, or Allgaier.
