Not shitting on the kid but this statement is a joke right?
No, not at all.
It's very possible I'm missing someone from the 2027 St. Michael class that came in as freshman like I did with Fontenot, I'm not an insider. Of the ones I know about, an argument can be made that Easley was the #2 or #3 player in that class, a good step behind Fontenot. My original comment was about the fact they get decent players from outside their "district".
Easley may have turned it on in the last couple years but as a Freshman he had zero and I mean zero business even playing Varsity. He pitched one good game against Episcopal Freshman and Tookie moved him up. I hope he tears it up at Prairieville but his parents moved him as fast as they could as well especially after him getting exposed at St. Louis in Lake Charles.
Too many players play scared under Tookie. Some kids could strike out looking every other bat but they were a favorite or legacy so they stayed in the game. Other players make 1 mistake and they were on the bench for a long time. Never seen a program where the parents were happy to lose as long as their kid played and never seen a program where the talent was on the bench giving way to those players.

No argument and my comment has as much to do with the quality of the 27' class as it has to do with Easley. Hope he does well at Prairieville

Man if true, and not saying it's not, it sheds light on why so many quality players transfer out and so few quality players transfers in. Eventually that type of culture gets communicated in baseball circles and it's nearly impossible to shake without consistently winning.

Doesn’t this describe most parents everywhere?

Don't really trust those pocket radars.
you should, they are within 2% if they are calibrated right. Issue with the pocket radar is when the batteries get low or you are not standing directly behind home plate.
I have tested mine against stalker, rapsodo and trackman a bunch and as long as I have new batteries, am right behind the catcher, always right on.

umm i dunno, i have seen both. Most parents at the better schools tend to be pretty realistic.
So in the max preps preseason rankings, Teurlings Catholic is ranked 24. Very interested to see the scrimmage against Barbe on thursday to see how they look.

Yeah I believe there’s at least 4 sophomores starting. Future should be bright.

CCA travels to Barbe Feb 27/28(DH) for a 3 game series. Also at Catholic High on Feb 20. CCA should have another very good team this year.

ace from last year recover from FB injury?
I think he will only hit this year. If he is able to pitch at all it will be towards the end of the season.

Is Barbe gonna be any better this year or is the decline real?

Another left their Senior year and ended up getting a college offer.
I can tell you with certainty that this guy could not throw a strike, probably why he didn’t pitch as much as he or daddy wanted him to at St Michael

We had 2 pocket radars last year and compared it against the Stalker. one of the Pocket radars was 2 miles low off from the Stalker and the other was 7 low with new batteries. You are right if working correct they are close but have to be right behind.

i carry around a tuning fork for mine just to make sure. They are guaranteed to be within 2% so if its off by more you can contact them and they will walk you through recalibrating it or send you a new one.
But i have watched stalked be off too, especially at tournaments, kids just propping them up. Watched a brand new stalker 3 get smoked by a foul ball and fly 10 feet or so and it was off by like 10-15 after.
also pocket radar has directions on where you stand so the cone catches it correctly. Its a smaller cone than stalker but not by a whole lot.
having the tuning for helps a ton though because i know immediately if its off.

There shouldn't be any decline with Barbe baseball this year, veterean team with key pieces returning on offense, defense and the mound.

i mean they made the semifinals only losing to the eventual champ that they ended up 2-2 against on the year....lost in the finals the year before and won it the year before that.
so what is the decline you speak of? Not every year are they going to be the 2014 squad. But yea they are good. Preseason ranked number 24 by PG
they have
Lawton Littleton- best LHP in state- LHP commit
Jordin Griffin- LSU commit
JD Alexander- Texas A&M commit, back from tommy johns too so will be pitching too. Should settle in to be the solid number 2 again like he was before the injury.
Miles Ledoux- ULL commit
Zaylon Johnson- freshman will start 3rd and will pitch, up to 91 on the bump
Washington at ss, will be a juco guy
Hayden heath at 1st, LSU-E guy. Big kid that can hit for power and will pitch too, runs it up to 90+
Reagan will be catcher is a senior
RF and LF is a battle from what i heard.
but yea they have the very talented top heavy Jr & Senior classes and a monster freshman class. Bring back a ton of key pieces from last year.
I mean but Sam Houston is absolutely loaded too as is West Monroe. Should be those 3 battling it out in the non select side. Im sure there will be a BR area team in that mix too though. Mandeville is supposed to be really good too.
on the select side, catholic is going to be a monster as will Tuerlings again. Uhigh, STM, St Louis, VC, Parkview will all compete in the other classes
not sure how the catholic league teams will be this year. Maybe someone from nola can give more insight.
PBR is still releasing their Power 25 for the state and PG has released 21-50 of their national top 50.
here is the 2D preseason rankings for all classes

that dude just makes shite up. he expects barbe to go undefeated and win every single year in a sweep or he says they are declining. when that has never been the case, they have never went undefeated and are only at like at 13 state championships in last 27 seasons so less than 50% clip since they won their first in 98.

The only time Barbe seemed different to me was the Hawsey/Federico/Pearson senior season. That’s the only time it looked like they knew before the game they weren’t winning and once Starr made the catch at 3rd or Pearson hit the bomb they seemed defeated. Every other game I’ve seen them they’re still killers. They still have to be the favorite going into the season. No one thinks they’ve fallen off imo.

Barbe should be solid every year given the recruiting they are able to do every year from other schools.
Watching them in person last year I was only impressed with Littleton, Alexander and Ledoux. Them and the pitcher who went to McNeese. The others that PBR talks about I wasn't impressed at all and didn't think they were any good. Littleton and Alexander from what I saw are the real deal.
Now watching the coach run around all game trying to get people to look at him was very exhausting. Think the game was stopped 5 or 6 times so he could be seen.

Same experience after seeing them in person. Littleton is legit; however, Alexander must have had an off series because all he did was DH and maybe got 1 hit in 2 games. Their SS was smooth. The CF made the series ending catch on a ball that should have been in for a base hit. Other than that he really didn't impress at the plate.
It was exhausting having to watch their coaches antics all game long. Their 10 minute hype video before each game was weak. The whole Barbe U thing was a little too much. Nice facility though.
Posted on 1/28/26 at 5:04 pm to LSUDAN1
For me with all the hype on CF and SS didn’t add up. They both didn’t hit in either game. Facility was nice but fans were idiots. Blowing air horns while our pitchers were about to release the ball. Bush league fans in my opinion. Coach was exhausting watching.
Think Alexander had TJ so only hit last year. Really good at the plate. You miss a pitch as a pitcher he hurts you.

If you gonna throw it out, name names. If not stfu with that. They built a program, kids want to play there because the coaching, development and facilities and move in tone zone to do it.
Want to see recruiting, better go see that team across the river.
