No way Catholic High should be number 2. They will be good and will have a shot at state in 5a Private. But they are nowhere near the Catholic they have been. Losing their ace for the season really hurt. They have catcher issues, no big 27 bat except the Live Oak transfer (and as of this weekend , he has not been cleared by LHSSA ).

I can see them in Top 10 , but to many questions to be number 2.

ACL running bases.

Catholic will be good. But if they win state it will be Bass’s best coaching job ever. 26 was not there best class. And 27’ has a couple arms but one of the weakest class’s CHS has had in years.
Have some really good young players in the pipeline. But nothing like Sam Houston.

Big Sam has the best soph class in the state and it’s close for freshman between them and barbe

I will say, big Sam better enjoy it cause once that freshman class goes, they gonna be kind of weak overall in the next couple classes. The 2030 is decent of them with a couple high end ones but drops after that. Barbe is really weak in 2030, but strongest class since that 2014 squad coming in the 2031 class.

Catholic should be damn good in the 2031 class too. BR area is fricking absolutely loaded in that class. Shreveport area too and so is west Monroe area. Depending on where they all go, either tc or stm will be loaded from that class too.

If you have kids that play baseball, then you know you spend all day (if your team is any good), with time to watch plenty of games

I’m sure he’d rather be in the pool with a. Cold beer, but some parents sacrifice to do what their kids love.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked kids I coached “where is your dad?”.. and I get answers like hunting, fishing, golfing….

Freaking losers

I thought Twin City Bombers ran that age group pretty much their entire career until they got bored and didn’t care anymore? They did split though in HS with 2 at Neville, 1 at Ruston middle, 1 at St Fred’s, 1 at Calvary, and pretty much the rest at WM.

yep....i would love to be playing golf or fishing every weekend but honestly I absolutely love watching my kids do what they love. wouldnt miss it for the world.

and if you play on teams that go play national level tournaments you tend to know the best kids in the state and across the country even.

they were good but like you said, they are all split. But in 14u when the sam houston kids plus like 2-3 of the barbe kids came together and played for prospects...they ran off everyone in the 2d select series. now barbe had the Luccini team and they didnt play but a couple tournaments but they beat prospects. both classes are very deep and very good. I would say barbe has the best player of the group but Sam Houston has the next 3. Prolly split 50/50 if you went to the top 10 between the 2.

twin city did beat them some though. it was back and fourth all year and twin cities only losses in 2d were to the prospects black and their only tie was to them too. I think it was like 2-1-1 on the year with prospects leading series. They finished 1 & 2 in the season rankings. But also understand that traction wasnt playing in 2d last year and their national teams were good.

both the 2030 & 2031 classes should be very strong for yall. the west monroe bulldogs teams for both classes are strong and in 2030 the knights NE is very strong and then in 2031 the Riverdawgs are one of the best teams in the state and have an absolute stud catcher who might be the overall best player in the state and I think he is going to WM. 100% will be a D1 guy. Not sure how many others will go to WM. the 2030 WM team is big as shite and Knights NE in the 2031 class is decent too and really big too.

I agree with Catholic recruiting.

But I know a buddy who had a kid at St louis Catholic and said their best player left and went to barbe last year. That is one that I know of. Don't live out there but have family and they say it happens all the time.

It IS very creepy. Why stop at the class of 2031? How does 2035 project for those high schools? To know THAT much about so many young kids, it should be a red flag.

LSU777 is weird but he is correct that the overwhelming majority move into the school district to play there. It's not uncommon for 7-8 or their starters to play post high school. It makes kids want to play there and they simply move into the school district. If a kid lives in Sulphur or Westlake and they want to move into their school district, we're likely talking about less than 10 miles. The parents aren't getting promised jobs or benefits or anything of that nature.

do you know why? its because he was constantly in trouble at SLC and hated the coach. so he left and his brother followed. then his brother got mad at the coach at barbe over playing time....so he left and went back to SLC....notice an issue there? think maybe the family might be the issue?

it was not recruiting at all. kid lived in barbes district so didnt even have to sit out.

and is it recruiting if a kid shows up in 8th grade adn says coach....I am moving into the zone and the coach says.....great love to have you come to tryouts? or is it recruiting if a coach says...all i can promise if you come here is you will get lots of opportunities in inters quads to prove yourself, we dont promise playing time but if you want to come, love to have you?

because that is what happens. Barbe didnt recruit gavin guidry or lawton littleton. Those kids had wanted to play with their friends from travel ball they grew up playing with and wanted to play at barbe so their families moved. Its ok to move zones to attend certain schools.

Also one thing you need to understand, similar to BR and even houston area, LC gets lots of people moving in because of the plants. Parents getting transferred in or getting a job at one that they cant pass up. well if you are going to send your kid to public school, the three best are Barbe, Westlake, Sam Houston.....well barbe and SH have the great programs and barbe has better top end academics and allows you to live in SLC which is the better area. frankly....if you live in Lake Charles and are white, actual LC, not moss bluff, and you dont want to pay for private school, you only have 1 choice in HS if you are a decent parent and dont want your kid going to a failing school that is absolutely terrible.

and for the most part schools like barbe and WM dont really have to recruit. kids move into the district because they want to play there. now sam houston.....yea they do and they use loopholes about some class they have others dont to get kids in. masters at it.

no coaches will go talk to parents if the parents say they are thinking about moving etc. but i have never heard of coaches calling or texting a kid, at least from Barbe.......SH will text kids on barbes team or on other teams zero fricks given.

most of what people on here claim is recruiting isnt. Most of the time its 1 of 2 things

1) the kids they have played with their whole life are going to a school and they want to go with them because that is their best friends.

2) the kids in 7/8th understand they have potential and want to go to the best program they can. parents see this too and so they move into the district or they start going to the feeder school

so its weird when i have kids in those classes? I also have a younger one and know some of those too.

if you are at the ball fields 12+ weekends a year playing teams from all over the state and even country, you tend to learn who the better kids are. Especially if you play on things like all state or pick up teams with players from all over the state that are put together to go play in huge national tournaments....well do that ever year for a couple years and you tend to meet kids from all over the state and their parents.

pretty easy to figure out who is good and who isnt. and 2031 class is 7th graders. play against the same kids from last 6 years...you tend to meet people

correct and the kid he is talking about, Bordelon, essentially got kicked off SLC team and cursed the coach out after he got into a fight with another kid on the team and already lived in Barbes district

LSU777 is weird

how the frick am I weird? because i happen to know the good kids around the state that my sons play against? like i said....play with or against the same kids for years and you tend to meet people. and when your kid talks to these kids all the time you tend to learn who is who.

Again, not from that area so don't know the inside story. you asked for someone and I gave you a kid I knew did that.
On the outside looking in it seemed like recruiting but knowing the inside story now makes sense to me.

I wish in AP we didn't have 5-5A schools within a 10 mile radius. Our kids here play together growing up but have to be split for HS. lots of talent going to different schools.
