It doesn’t happen anymore.

Arm injuries are so prevalent now, I don’t think anybody knows the right answer.

We're not supposed to be throwing 90+, much less at 16 yo. Then factor in spin rates and number of games. I was icing our kids arms at 9-13 years old with custom sleeves

Who does this now? It’s all a crap shoot once you are conditioned

Well, you obviously know a lot more about the kid and his conditioning than me, so I’ll let you decide if those 20 pitches were a mistake

I’m not sure how anyone can argue it’s ok to pitch a kid, in his first start of the year, into the seventh inning having already thrown 96 pitches with his team HAVING A NINE RUN LEAD. How can this even remotely be justified?? Some things are just wrong. Period.

To try and judge/predict what some 7th and 8th grades will be as players is ridiculous. Their balls haven't even dropped yet

You have zero clue wtf you are talking about, I don’t have time to sit here and go through everything with you but all you have to do is go look at select fest list from 2016 on and see the % of hits on those list of guys going d1. Or go look at the initial PBR rankings for a class and see how many are still top 25 in the state. Or go see the pg rankings of 8th grade classes and see how many of those are going d1.

And we are talking about high school not college so it’s less projection, some 7th graders will be playing varsity in 2 years, 8th in a single season.

Go yell at clouds

years ago... before kids got their drivers licenses and after kids rod bikes EVERYwhere - I mean I probably put 10-15 miles a day on my bike going to visit friends, fish, hunt, play with tetons etc. When I got my car at 16 I barely rode my bike... My velo actually dropped over the next year.

I'll go on a limb and say arm injuries are more prevalent now not from too much pitchings its from a lack of proper conditioning and likely even nutrition.

This is where I differ a bit. Most high school pitchers are done after HS. I am ok w high volume for many of them, especially late in the year. And those guys are throwing w a weeks rest most of the time, for about 15 appearances a year fir 2-3 years. MLB guys are going out on 4-5 days rest for 30+!starts a year, for a decade or more. The management can differ a bit.

Could not agree more. With VERY few exceptions (Nolan Ryan?) pitchers only have so many bullets in the chamber, you have to use them judiciously. Any chance you get to preserve them I think you should. It can be argued that most pitchers are done after high school, so why use this approach, "better to burn out than fade away" but I think you always have to look at the long game not the short game and what is best for them, as you don't know what their future holds and you want to give them every advantage moving forward.

Right but their body and their arm is how they make a living and unimaginable wealth. High school kids are still kids

I mean I get this but at the same time, I also dont have anything left in my right shoulder...and am basically living in pain until I finally get fed up and do surgery. Im sure there are a bunch of us adults in our mid to late 30s and beyond with the same issue.

Like the long-term health problem doesn't just get massaged away because most kids arent going pro or college

It'd be like if only the college eligible football players in HS had special helmets to prevent concussions but you didnt do that for the non college prospects.

If you play sports, things are gonna hurt. And a clean out of the shoulder at 40 isn’t limited to throwers. And isn’t quite the same ss brain damage

your analogy is terrible.

St. Louis has kinder

Sam Houston has Beaumont Kelly tonight then bennet school tomorrow

Sam Houston, barbe, the bennet school, Beaumont Kelly, Neville, OPP catholic, airline, st Ed’s and Sulphur are all in the Mike Willis tournament. That’s why they are all playing similar teams

The spot tournament is next weekend I think. Has teams from Austin and Miami in it.

3-1 Catholic over WM in the 6th. 2 run bomb is the difference at the moment.

3-1 Catholic final

WM 1-6-1
Catholic 3-6-0

1 mistake was the difference. Left a ball up and South Alabama commit hammered it. Game 2 tomorrow at 3.

Damn. I pull for my fellow 2-5A schools. Catholic comes to our place this year. Not particularly looking forward to it. But if we pitch well, we can play even for a bit, will need some breaks.
