It was on purpose and happened all game long with every runner. Umpire should of done something earlier and this wouldn't of happened. i don't blame the kid for snapping after getting alot of knees in the groin all game. Should he have swung, prob not but understand his frustration. Just bush league.

Whats funny is people mention dutchtown being whiny but miss the fact that Sam Houston fans jumping into dutchtown parents FB post on a great season and shite talk. Sad.

I 100% think that the 1b for dtown should of got tossed. Now all of sam Houston dugout including coaches ran out. They stopped so don't believe anything should of been done. But the batter ran full speed to 1st, which as a teammate I agree with, but he should of been tossed.

I can leave it with this as Dtown has played Barbe, sam houston and Sulphur and I was at all of them.Excluding a few people I had good conversations with, Sam houstons fans were by far the worst group of people hands down! The 60yr old man blowing a whistle everytime our pitcher threw amazed me.

If I had a kid and lived in that area, 100% would go to Sulphur as I know they would taught how to respect the game and people.

I know I'm probably going to get beat up for this post but don't really care. Sam beat Dtwon and was a better team but good god their fan base was misserable.

Not going to get into what’s right and wrong, who’s whiny, etc.
I was one of the closest people to first base. He was kneed in the nuts 4 times before this. Go look at the other angle from the one posted here. It’s clear that they were being coached to do this. He asked for the ump’s input. Ump did nothing. This time was a knee to the nuts and an elbow in the chest. The umpire failed him. He did what he did and received consequences by getting ejected. This is a kid that you are continuing to talk about.

i actually agree with this and was ok with the kid acting the way he did. also ok with SH going into the front of the bag like that. But the Dtown kid was coached wrong on how to accept the throw from pitcher imo

man from the other angles it looked like he got kneed. my question is why was he standing there instead of standing at the front corner and swiping?

He's literally standing at the front corner

Just curious, what is the actual written LHSAA rule on ejections in baseball?.. I know LHSAA followed the basketball rule to the T a few years back when they kicked Zachary out of the playoffs even though the Z coaches, kept all their players on the bench during the scuffle on the court. The other team had players and fans come out the stands fighting with players on the court and Z still got kicked out. It was a situation where LHSAA followed the rules exactly how it was written.

I only saw the gif, but it was just a lazy throw over...no lead, no play at the bag with the dtown 1b on the corner.

I will say, that the SH runner was not ready for the smoke, he damn near ate that right. If they are going to provoke folks they may want to learn to be ready.

I think the front of the bag is fine for a play going back up and probably results in a handful of balls going to the fence for free bags thru a year. But lastly, any avoidable contact should be addressed. He could easily go back on that same path and not contact the 1B

yea i agree with what you on that. SH kid should have been warned to avoid contact

drock mentioned he was standing on the front corner, i went back and watched another angle and drock is correct. I was wrong.

after watching it in slow motion over and over, SH kid was 100% in the wrong, he did knee him, not raised the knee, but made sure to put his leg right where it would hit him. the 1st baseman gave him plenty of room to take the back of the bag and that actually gives him a better chance to get back if its close.

this was 100% coached and SH should have been talked to well before this one

as far as the rule....it states you can not leave the bench area during a fight. not that you have to participate. the Scoreboard guy and dtown parents are correct. its just that its been 48 hours and still whining about it.

They need to control the artificial noise makers next year, and I don't really know any other way to control them without simply banning them.

Just saw the video…. What an embarrassment to Dutchtown, the other players, and his parents (although sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree).

Runner came in a little in 1b personal area, but contract like that? C’mon man!

I’d have that kid turn in his jersey in the dugout and have him leave.

I heard a few of the plays from video on Facebook. When did baseball games turn into soccer matches with all the artificial noise makers non-stop during the games.

Good God.... Embarassment... Bush league tactics all game and the dutchtown kid is blamed now for standing up for himself.

if you can't watch the video and see Sam kids were intentionally doing bush league stuff I don't know what to tell you.

Clear bag policy and flat out banning them is really the only way.

Bush league tactics
100%

Bush league tactics are part of sports, not a big fan of them, but there are always players, coaches, teams that will straddle the grey area for the slightest advantage. This one being that a throw inside the bag will create inadvertent contact, or an extra bag because F3 can't catch the ball. The bush league/grey area is something that is in the bounds even if not well accepted. Throwing punches is well outside of the bounds of the game and not standing up for himself but losing control in the moment. Doesn't mean he is a bad kid, but he had a bad reaction in a spot that is absolutely fair to criticize.

I don't disagree that the Sam kid initiated contact, and that the runners may have been doing it all game. You can't just get into a fist fight on the field in the middle of the game, though. It's just not excusable.

Sam cleared the dugout and came onto the field, which probably should have carried some punishment. But they didn't start fighting like the Dutchtown kid did.

Dude

I have seen every video. SH was absolutely using bush league tactics, and their coach should have been warned in the game and he should be told something.

But nothing they did was egregious, it was all in the grey area of bad sportsmanship.

The reaction by the Dutchtown player was egregious, and out of line. He deserved to be punished. It doesn’t make him an awful person, he is a high school kid that lost his cool. It’s a learning moment hopefully. But it’s only a learning moment if the adults in his life tell him he was wrong and not pacify him and make excuses like you are

Never said they weren’t antagonizing…

But not enough composure to refrain from punching him lol

How about the next batter wear one on the ribs? And the guy that did it when he bats next?

I don’t think punching a player on the field is excusable

Agree he should of stood up for himself but went too far. Umps failed him.

Great win for Sam Houston and great run for dutchtown. Sad that this is what is talked about. Sam's middle infield was a huge differnce maker. made alot of highlight plays.

It is as simple as that..."coach, I see yall are going in on the inside corner, that is fine, but if your guys keep making contact I am going to call the next one out....we clear?" And it all goes away.

Let em play isnt a philosophy in baseball, one passed ball because a 1B gets a forearm to the chest and the game can be changed. Forget the sportsmanship piece...are we just going to let R2s run into shortstops in the act of fielding next? This just seems really basic.
