He had to fight through that 4th set, but kept his composure and made some great shots in the end that forced enough errors to get the win. Fun match to watch.

29 being one of the oldest first time major champs in a pretty wild stat

Kind of a reminder that guys used to tap out at 30 and freaks like Nole, Rafa, and Federer are complete anomalies

I don't know exactly what the stat was, but up until like ten years ago, nobody won more than like two or three after 29.

Really stoked for Zverev. Been wanting him to win one, when Joker was out of contention, for a while. He looked like he may never get one with Sinner and Alcaraz trading off, but everything fell perfect and he took advantage.

Figured it out after I hit submit. Thanks. I knew I knew her but the hair was throwing me off.

Djokovic is gonna have probably his last best shot for 25 at Wimbledon with Alcaraz out. We will see what kind of head space Sinner is coming back from RG. Ironically, the early round loss might well help him, at least from a purely physical standpoint. There is a reason why the Channel Slam has historically been difficult to achieve, though adding the extra week in between probably made it a tad less difficult.

Good on Zeverev for now wasting this massive opportunity. Lord knows when the stars will align again like this for him
