Where are the same people saying commercials is preventing them from watching college football
Most sports have natural stoppages throughout. And the commercials in college football are out of control these days.

It's also a cultural thing. Europe doesn't have the same commercial structure and the BBC doesn't have any. So Sky coverage was sort of born from that.

That guy is pulling numbers from way out his arse.
A full minute for an ad during last year's Indy 500 was $200k. So unless they have 5 hours of commercials during a 3 hour race they won't pull in $60MM.
Also, the ESPN deal with F1 was somewhere around $85MM/year the last 3 years. No doubt Mother's wasnt covering that whole $85MM

The original deal with ESPN was like something embarrassingly low like $5M per year …. Mercedes took over from Mothers if you recall when they extended with ESPN

Alright. Mercedes Benz wasn't fully covering the whole cost. There was onscreen advertising as well as commercials outside the race.

I am this person for the NFL. I cannot watch a Monday night game because of the commercials.
Also. I thought this was different pay package as in to show the race and commercials you had to pay F1 a higher amount or pay less but no commercials

From another thread re Mardi Gras
quote:
This is what they are trying to use to base their claim on. Their first
parades/celebrations were on New Year’s eve until the late 1800’s when they moved them to Mardi Gras season, because that was what NOLA was doing.
A parade/procession on new year’s eve is not a Mardi Gras parade. If any parade counts, then there are multiple St Patrick’s day parades the have been continuously held since before the American Revolution. Boston, NY, and Philly come to mind.
NOLA had Mardi Gras balls and masking until it was banned in the 1830’s. They also have active social clubs that have been having parties/balls since the 1840’s, was the first to present debutants, have a queen, have a king, tableaus, call outs, doubloons, throws, etc. Moving your New Year’s celebrations to Mardi Gras does not give you claim to establishing Mardi Gras.

Back to our regularly scheduled arguing...
Ferrari is saying enough is enough with the changes to the start procedures. While I agree that they should build a car that can actually get off the line, its tough to sit and wait for a huge crash at start due to so many stall outs.

I’m with Ferrari on this one. They read the rules, warned everybody what it would look like, and then engineered a solution. Seems like every other team ignored the problem because they assumed the rule would be changed for them.
Also Ferrari getting to the front at the starts has created all the drama so far. Mercedes putting it on pole, and then storming outta the blocks before driving off in the distance won’t be much fun to watch.

Ferrari did a good job of designing a car that takes off fast

Saw a post on IG that had a zoom in on the scales at the Chinese GP... RB weighed in at 716.5kg compared to Mclaren at 697.5 and Ferrari at 698.5.
How the frick is RB that much heavier?

Could it have been Max's car with a full tank of gas?
