As a reminder - Israel has attacked Iran twice. Iran has never attacked Israel unprovoked .

This was the pinnacle of open wheel racing (sorry F1)

Andre Ribeiro's ride with Tasman in 95 and 96 maybe the most underrated Livery of all time
Coach Cignetti named pace car driver for the 500

Also, the ESPN deal with F1 was somewhere around $85MM/year the last 3 years. No doubt Mother's wasnt covering that whole $85MM

The original deal with ESPN was like something embarrassingly low like $5M per year …. Mercedes took over from Mothers if you recall when they extended with ESPN

I think you see Prema surface as well

No lie, Indycar would get my eyeballs a lot more if I didn't have to slog through the broadcast with commercials and, imo, subpar commentators. The racing is good. Consuming it is not.

The only reason f1 doesn’t have commercials is because they gave their TV rights away for free to ESPN and were able to get Mothers Polish to sponsor the telecasts with a sweetheart deal

Someone recently did the math and it would take around $150M+ for Indycar to do the same, which isn’t economically feasible

Until that ESPN deal every race on Tv had commercials , they’re a necessary evil.

Where are the same people saying commercials is preventing them from watching college football

You forgot this:

That is indisputable; Indycar is the National Driving Championship, which predates the World Championship (F1 ) by decades, but ultimately has always been US focused.
Indycar averaged 1.362 last year, F1 was at 1.320
If you are implying Indycar- I think its pretty inaccurate to say its struggling when it produced a higher avg TV rating compared to F1 in 2025, has the most watched race of the year, and the largest single day sporting event on the planet.

Indycar's biggest issue is that it fails to live up to its potential and as of recently has sucked at marketing but the sport is very healthy (25+ car fields, long term commitments from OEM partners, arguably the deepest field in history, massive team budgets from major corporations, comparable attendance to nascar/cup at almost every race).

Its also poised to be sustainable, which F1 is not- especially with the current geo political climate and imminent correction of the "F1 bubble"
I was actually there in 2005

It was cool to see Minardi score points that day.

You could watch the sport on Speedvision.

Luckily my dad is a real one and we had subscriptions to Autosport and OnTrack as well

It was much better when it was a form of racing only accessible to the elite and to people that understood the history and heritage of open wheel single seater racing
