Allegedly Aston offered him $300MM this year and he didn't sign.

Best decision he's ever made... the worst was not jumping ship last year to Merc when he could.

I think he finishes his current contract then goes to endurance racing. I don’t think he’s interested where f1 is headed. Already doing Nurburgring

He's def not and he's made it clear. Again, was very odd he came out against the new regs a few weeks back then Stefano went and met with him and he retracted some of his comments. However, he has come out after the first race and doubled down on them.

He dipped his toes into other racing last year. Wasn't it a GTD event driving Ferrari as Nurburring?

It’s called NLS, “Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie”

“'At least you can drive flat out' – Max Verstappen confirms plans for Nurburgring 24 HRs

quote:

“In the meantime, an entry into the race in May looks increasingly likely after the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie moved its schedule to not clash with Formula 1. Previously, the second race of the NLS season clashed with the Japanese Grand Prix but that has now been brought forward by a week. Verstappen was asked about the possibility of him missing that as a warm-up race and confirmed he was working on a way to take part. “Looking at it now, at least, you can drive flat out there without looking after my battery,” he said. “I want to do it. We are working on it to make it happen but I cannot confirm it yet. “It’s great, of course, from the organisers that they change the date, because I think if I, if I do it [the 24hr race], of course, I need one race of preparation, compared to guys that have been doing it for a while and have a bit more experience.”

I hope if these Middle East races are cancelled he jumps in the schedule there more.

No, this is what I was talking about... I knew it was Ferrari bc the joke was he can jump into a ferrari and win from the start

Sounds like everyone has agreed to get together after China and discuss changes to the regs... on the table which I believe some have mentioned on here already

quote:

The main topic to be discussed is a tweak to the energy management levels – and whether revisions need to be made to the harvest and deployment levels.

Options for improvement can be to increase how powerful super clipping is, which will help drivers charge batteries much more easily.

Another possibility is to decrease the power that can be deployed. While this will mean a reduction in horsepower, it will allow drivers to keep boost levels for much longer.

There is also some consideration to seeing if there are ways to boost the power of the internal combustion engine.

Looks like Toto could be making moves to keep Horner out.

It's easy to forget that Formula 1 is primarily a constructors championship to test engineering skills. It's in the name - Formula - as in the rules create a set of regulations (the formula) and the manufacturers/teams try to create the best car based on that formula. The driver is an important piece, but not as important as the car.

Max is a driver, first and foremost. He wants to enter driving competitions where being the best driver is the most important aspect. Enduro racing is exactly the type of thing Max wants to be doing.

That is what I love about it. Build the greatest piece of machinery on the edge of what your driver's skill can handle. The better the driver the closer to the edge you can get.

WEC goes as far as to handicap faster cars to make the series competitive.

Got to watch the race last night. Just a few things that stood out.

- I feel like I hate the broadcast. Not Apple+, just the crew (other than rarely showing pit stops, wtf was up with that?). One race in and I miss Brundle big time. Had very little desire to watch the pre race with the homely looking chicks and JPM who looked like he was about to go play dodgeball instead of be on TV. Overall didn't like the call of the race either. I am sure it wasn't his first call on the mic, he might have called 1000 races for all I know, but the one guy drove me crazy with the "and Norris takes the podium!" and "The driver who started 20th is in line for 5th place!" when there were like 30 laps in the race. Do you really say the person takes the podium every time someone moves into the top three even before the race is over? Maybe I'm an old man yelling at clouds but man it was annoying

- I don't know how I feel about the battery thing. I love more passing, I know that. But even though I'm not a Red Bull fan, Max not liking it kind of makes me not like it. If it is in fact taking away fromt he skill of the driver.

- Williams being behind at the beginning of the season yet again

- Audi's livery was pretty sweet looking on track, I like it a lot more than the construction safety vest neon green.

On an unrelated note, I started watching the new season of DTS. Was hoping that one douche was note going to be the main comentator this season because someone said he moved to covering Indy Car, but 2 minutes into the first episode you have Will freaking Buxton overblowing some story

Didn't feel too bad for Horner getting fired because they are showing him sulking at his mansion, but I also kind of did feel bad. And Racey Spice actually seems like a really nice lady/good wife. Not your typical pop star type. Hope he is back in the sport soon.

lol. YES! You can keep watching the way ESPN used to show it by watching the SkySport feed on Apple.

Nice! Didn't know that, that's good to hear. I just saw on the home page the Pre race and race feed pop up right there. I guess I just need to search for the SkySport feed or is that a separate subscription you add to Aplle?

It’s just a little further down in the feed for the race weekend. Can watch all of practice qualifying race and everything via the SkySports version.
