It's not a money thing, its more of principal. Just don't want/need another streaming service and frick F1 for putting it behind a paywall.

I'll say, the Apple product has been good thus far.

Some of that has to be from how quick the lights went out.

Not sure I have ever seen them that quick.

Right, so the ones complaining just need to build a better engine and power management

Race car drivers and fans want to hear, see and feel V8 motors not battery management

Do you remember last year during one of the random crash outs and it came out that the computer on the car was tricked which autochanged settings because the car thought it was in a different part of the track?

Are you talking about when Doohan yeeted it into a turn with DRS open?

The engines have had engine mapping based on track position for a long time. Not really true engine mapping but basically the mapping within the setting. If I remember it was about harvesting/regen more than just power.

If a driver doesn't brake or is on the throttle too long the mapping can think it is elsewhere on the track.

Similar to how Williams introduced the active suspension based on where it was on the track.

Again, neither FIA nor Liberty really care at all about what fans, especially American fans, want to see

Nor the engine manufacturers nor teams.

The teams make the rules.

Liberty cares. Both they and the F1 Group are public companies traded on US stock exchanges and they've obviously made a push to increase F1's profile here.

The FIA, on the other hand, is a typical governing body.

The decision to increase the power output from electric motors was made in 2022 under the logic that it would align F1 with the future electrification of passenger cars. I'm sure there's some regret about that among Liberty and F1 Group management at this point.

That’s not something I’ve heard about so far.

I hadn't heard about it until today. Maybe it's true. Maybe it's not. This should be time stamped.

Just glad Alex Palou wasn’t exposed to this madness. I don’t even know where to start.

Like I said from several pages back, perfect opportunity for Indy to take off. Sign Max on a Messi type deal and a few others. Over time, invest in proper race tracks and expand into Canada and Mexico.

I sense a real opportunity here if done right.

Oh ok. Apparently so. I guess it makes sense even with the previous formula to help control when where harvesting or super clipping happens.

Max will probably command $300MM for his next F1 contract. He has more chance of buying the IRL than joining.

Doesn’t Indy have Push to Pass, effectively the same thing.

ETA: after considering it, they are pretty different

He makes what, 70m a year right now? I know he was at 40 a couple of years ago but saw something recently putting him in the 70s.

So yeah, a 4yr contract would put him there.

Allegedly Aston offered him $300MM this year and he didn't sign. There will be multiple teams who want his skill and draw for that price.
