Looks like the sprint weekend caught Aston Martin. Not off to a great start even with their upgrades.

?? Fernando Alonso (22nd), after his rear wing failed to open: "The throttle was OPEN when I was braking. That makes it hard to brake the car"

"We've had issues with the engine's drivability: it was difficult to brake the car because it was pushing us in the braking zones".

"The engine was overperforming and Straight Mode wasn't working. The combination of both problems made the laps very tricky".

"In Free Practice we'd taken a step forward, but we're in an immature phase. If we'd had 3 Free Practice sessions, we'd have nailed the setup".

Yeah my prediction for Aston Martin is all off now.

I thought they would be a legit midfielder.

But they can change the setup between the sprint race and main qualy tomorrow, so maybe they can fix things up.

Sprint Qualifying seems to have caught some of them out this weekend.
Maybe they’ll have it all sorted by the race Sunday.

Yeah, one practice session in less-than-ideal conditions is tough.

But the sprint race is basically a practice session (with a few points available) where they can gather data and sort the cars further for main qualy. I think sprint qualy frequently has little surprises, but then by main qualy it's the expected order.

It's good to see the pro's have trouble coming back to work after vacation just like the rest of us.

This is one of my favorite tracks. The cars look so cool coming off the steep banking.

Crazy they go out of the break, straight into a sprint weekend and only get that hour in the car to get back to it or get familiar with tweaks.

Completely agree. On boards look like a roller coaster.

Lap 17 of 24. There's been virtually no passing after the first lap. Maybe a couple more passes at the back. Basically Kimi passed Piastri and Colapinto passed Yuki on the first lap, and that's about it. I got up early for this?

If that rain would have come any earlier it would have been crazy. Loved the finishing order.

Top 3 teams look close. Is tomorrow a 1-stop or 2? Im assuming one based on today, but i haven't looked it up yet.

McLaren has made an impressive step forward this season. They seem to be the best at mid season developments. I saw this Ruth Buscombe tweet explaining that they haven’t been running the ideal gear ratios in their transmission. They’ve had to grin and bear it so far this season but the worst tracks are behind them and she expects them to be good for the rest of the season.

Still don't think they going to have race pace. Lando doesn't sound very confident either.

I can't wait until one of the current drivers retires and gives their true thoughts on sprints.

They all seem so bored and have no passion in these races.
