Great last few laps. Got me looking for Atlanta tickets for the first time in well over a decade.

At what point did Nascar or FOX or whoever decide that they need to basically mute the car engine noise on TV coverage?
Even the pitting under yellow coverage is boring as hell, when it used to be complete chaos and excitement.

Matt Weaver
@MattWeaverRA
NASCAR Cup Series inspection is clear.
The Nos. 9, 2, 19 and 99 will return to the NASCAR R&D Center for an engine dyno.
The Nos. 19 and 2 will be inspected.
41 of the 45 cars entered in the Daytona 500 were involved in an incident during Speedweek.
Not involved:
William Byron
Chris Buescher
Carson Hocevar
BJ McLeod (Did not qualify for the 500)

Winner car stays in Daytona for a year. Probably wanted to do it so everyone can see it on display. Hitting one side would not hide anything.

Jeff Gordon was even critical of Joey

Jeff Gordon, vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, also was critical of Logano’s actions. When Daytona 500 winner William Byron was asked if drivers were making dumb moves during the race, Gordon interjected: “Joey did.” Byron responded: “Yeah, that’s fair

That's two drivers(one retired, one active) actively calling Joey out.

I’d rather that than what CW was on Saturday. Any music or noise and the announcers were totally drowned out.

Listening to Denny's podcast/rant about Daytona...
Basically he was saying the sport has sacrificed competition for entertainment at speedways, and winning has become more about luck than skill.
Also says with Daytona in particular that drivers try make or break moves (Joey, Wrecky Spinhouse, and Custer are examples) too early and it costs the rest of the field.
I think his first point is true to an extent. Yes you do get some lucky winners, but it still feels like we are getting good superspeedway drivers winning those races more often than not.

Stage breaks at the pack racing tracks ruin the flow. Green flag pit stops on those tracks really play in to the strategy. I don’t think they had one Sunday. I think it’s dumbed down just to have “side by side” racing all the time.

At least he has a sense of humor about it .
