As far as I know it’s always deployed manually. They know where the line is and hear a beep in their earpiece to let them know they can click the button.
It usually slams shut because they’re usually slamming on brakes. This is a relatively unique corner.

FP3 starting.
Ocon was not running the new floor yesterday but will have it today. Doing some comparison testing.

The current DRS is operated from within the car. Next year the new regulations are supposed to include active aerodynamics. Front wing is going to have a DRS like function also. Both the front and rear aero will be controlled via computers tho not the drivers.

Had to laugh at Bort screaming like he was going to die when he dropped a wheel off at 130R. (While saying something was "broken on the tire". lolzzz)

Wow, very tight Q1.
Yuki is right there with Max.

Top 14 within .6 is insane. Not long ago that was the difference between first and second.

Lawson ahead of Sushi.
Bearman through to Q3 with a patchwork floor. The kid is a damn good qualifier it seems. Beat Hulk both times he was against him last year as well.

For my TD F1 prediction I have Hadjar and Lawson ahead of Yuki, because I expected both VCARBs to qualify ahead of Yuki.
At least Yuki did something Lawson couldn't do in three qualy sessions in the Red Bull, he got out of Q1.

Holy shite. Max.
Top 3 within less than a tenth.
Hadjar assuming team leader at VCARB with P7. Yuki would have been there too if he didn't get demoted to Red Bull.

Max is simply another level. Dude is insane.
Hell, he might put the Haas on the pole.

Hamilton in the mix with VCARB and Williams.

Apparently Hadjar's discomfort in the cockpit during Q1 was because his harness was crushing his balls.
In the post-qualy show they asked Horner what Hadjar's problem was, and Horner said he was having a problem with his nuts -- not his wheel nuts.
He had to get out of the car between Q1 and Q2 to adjust the position of the harness.

Can we just get Max in a different car every week? Pretty sure he could drag that Sauber into Q3

That’s up there with his 2023 Monaco qualifying. Came out of nowhere.
