With the surprising results of sprint qualy, it looks like it's still hard to predict the order of teams and teammates. Which is great!
Definitely some surprises there in that Sprint Qualifying.
And max being so close to P1 was insane.

Bearman redeemed himself so far. Almost made Q3. Ocon slid tires going wide in last turn Q1 which did him in. Curious to see what the Bearman race pace will be. I think only top 8 get points in Sprint.
I also can see potential of carnage in top 8 at start of Sprint. The orange cars having to start back a ways and might over try to get to front

Hopefully they’re all smarter than that.

Yep. No one will get too racy during a sprint. They'll jostle a little at the beginning and the procession will begin.

Tsu. and Alb. in the top 10 in FP1 is nice. Looks like the Williams car is set up to have a strong season. Hope they keep it up.
I've grown to greatly enjoy Sprint weekends and I think the frequency at this point is just the right amount.
Look forward to hopefully another entertaining GP on Sunday.
Edited: I confused FP1 results with sprint quali results. My b

Man that sprint qualifying was fun and super encouraging for rest of the year
Glad Lewis has found a groove
Max and Lewis front row for the sprint? Yes please!!
Top four are so close, ya love to see it
Hopefully the Williams can keep this level up once teams with larger budgets start coming with all the upgrades
Hopefully those holds up for the normal qualifying and Grand Prix

Wait, what? Albon and Tsunoda finished in the top 10 in both sessions! They're doing great! And I agree with everything else you said.

These ghost car lap comparisons are pretty cool.

Chuck getting heat into the front tires.

I wonder if we'll see Tsunoda in the RB at some point this season instead of Lawson

So social media is having a field day with Liam Lawson. Remember he has three built-in hater bases: Danny fans, Checo fans, and Yuki fans, so there are plenty of people who are happy to pile on. I've included four choice tweets below. The 1st tweet is a quote from the Telegraph article linked below from an interview done after the Australia race (but before China started). Now I don't expect Liam to have any sympathy for Yuki, but he has a strange memory. In 2019 Yuki finished ahead of Liam in F3, and last year Yuki outqualified him 6-0 in GP qualifying, and outscored him 8-4 pts. The 2nd and 3rd tweets are some great quotes from Liam. I especially love the first one, don't blame the car. And to his credit, I don't think he is blaming the car the way Gasly famously did when he was at Red Bull. The last tweet is one of probably many Mexican tweets piling on.

I don't have the Twitter so I didn't know the amount of vitriol out there for Lawson. Never seen RBR cave to fan pressure, though.
Appreciate you sharing those tweets. Twitter is a zoo.

Insane on the braking while generally not getting killed on the exit. He gets the car to rotate pretty well.

In simracing, if I braked like him, I'd be a goner. Love him or hate him, he has a true mastery of motorsport physics, plus a lot of balls.

Loose is fast and on the edge of control.
Saying that, while I like a loose car, I'd end up in the rhubarb with something Max tools around in while picking his nose.

Max loves a pointy car... it's clear as day... get that sucker rotated during the mid corner and fire off... I like the same when sim racing... brake late, rotate and let the p/u eat... SUPER quick... heck, that's what Lewis loves as well
Then there's Senna... constantly manipulating the throttle a million times per second to get the most out of the car that is possible in a corner
Two different strategies, but when are applied correctly, can absolutely dominate the field

One of my favorite Senna videos is him taking an NSX around Suzuka. It has a camera on his feet. Heel-toeing with perfect throttle feathering.

30 minutes til the sprint. Can Lewis hold on to the lead and take the win? No pit stops or strategy calls for Team Ferrari to botch.
