Redbull did just enough to get Max back in the fight and excited and then pulled the rug out from under him.

Lando could be the weakest driver to win the championship...ever maybe.

Jolyon still managed to get in a dig at Yuki, saying a 0.3s gap between Max and Yuki is big considering the short track.

I'd like to point out that in the last two years, in a VCARB, Yuki finished the Brazilian GP in P9 (plus P6 in the sprint) and P7 (last year would have been higher if Alpine had not pulled off that brilliant tactical move). Despite his detractors (including some on this board), he had been driving at a high level the last couple of years. The Red Bull is just killing his career.

This may be an unpopular response, but I was not impressed with the way Button won in 2009. In the first half of the season Brawn had the dominant car, and Button only had to beat his teammate Barrichello. At first Button destroyed everyone, winning six of the first seven races. After the double-diffuser was ruled to be legal it took a while for other teams to catch up, but in the second half of the season Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari came on strong. After Race 7, Button didn't win another race. He hung on for dear life and managed to stay in front. For me, the damning fact is that in the second half of the season, Barrichello won two races. So the Brawn was still capable of winning races, but Button only managed two podiums in the last 10 races. To me that's pretty ugly.

In contrast, Lando is seizing the last part of the season and is taking the championship, not backing into it.

Bearman has been really fast in the later part of the season.

He may replace Lewis sooner than expected.

Lando is obviously very talented and it might be too early to call. Button was the only one I could think of like him because the series has been dominated by the very best for so long. Maybe Rosberg level.

Yuki definitely lost out going to Red Bull. Him and Hadjaar at RB would have been a real fun team to watch this season. Woulda been his best season in F1 at a critical time for him.

Wow, amazing qualy session! One of the best of the season.

Hadjar P5 !

I was hoping for Bearman to be a bit higher. He should have a nice fight with Lawson.

Great session. Kimi the star of the weekend so far. Hoping for a clean race tomorrow.

Is it possible that with the limited amount of engines they have for the season that Oscar just rode his harder early in the season?

The last couple years when Max was dominating he just drove it like he stole it and took and engine penalty late in the season. I don’t think either McLaren has done that this season. Maybe Lando played the long game better with his resources.

It’s a cool thought but Lando almost had what a 30s lead in Mexico?

If they were giving RB’s new Team Principal credit the last few weeks they have to give him shite this weekend.

Making Horner look good.

What’s weak about Lando’s racecraft this season?

It's so cool that Jacques Villenueve posts here.

Seriously. I feel like Lando has answered a lot of questions about his racecraft and mental fortitude this year. He’s had plenty of chances to fold, but hasn’t. Meanwhile…..

Where are the memes about where we are in the process of learning the piastri was the river with talent and not Norris? I haven’t seen those for a while.

What a shunt that was from Bortoleto...one of the biggest of the season.

Some wild videos from down track angles. What a hit that was and it’s amazing he was able to walk away.

Lando’s lap in Q1 was faster than anybody else in Q3. Would have been good for pole. So far he’s stepped up and put together a great weekend when it matters.
