It actually worked out well. They saved the new tires for when the track was better

Max was obviously exceptional but what happened with Lando and Hamilton?

Both ran over the curb on the last turn and lost time

RB and Max made a hell of a call with the setup today. From the talk everyone is expecting some rain tomorrow and ran a quali setup for that.

Did I hear right that Bottas is coming in for Alpine? Kindof left field there.

I think I saw a rumor that he or potentially Mick Schumacher could take over next.

Missed the talk about setup. Hope Lando and Hamilton can make up some pace and finish strong.

Good for Bearman too.

I’m high on Bearman’s talents and once he gets past some boneheaded decisions he’ll be a great one. He got demoted 10 spots for his pit entry dumbassery at end of Q1 but he shined on the track. He should be fun to watch in the race

Bearman ran a 1:25.451 and thats 3/10ths quicker than 11th. Since he’ll start in 18th he was almost 1 sec quicker than the cars he’ll start around. He had speed today, was also quick in Q3 so it’s not a fluke. Haas have found some speed

Been talk the last couple weeks.
Ramped up the last week with the 3 week break coming up.
I was expecting Bottas to Cadillac announcement during the break.

If he goes with Alpine they will reach their limit of 4 race drivers for the year.

Flavio in panic mode.
Should just crash it himself.

With the laps today and in Japan to take pole and the move on Oscar at Imola, Max is having a hell of an epic season for a former champion just 3rd in the driver's standings.

Agreed, the best really only show they're the best when they don't have the best car, for obvious reasons.

I don't think I've heard anyone else say it, but I think 1993 was Senna's finest season. He was pissed that Honda left and McLaren was stuck with an underpowered Cosworth engine, so he refused to sign a contract for the year. IIRC, he reportedly signed one-race contracts with McLaren throughout the season for $1M a race.

In a year when Williams easily had the dominant car--getting pole position in 15 of 16 races (Prost 13, Hill 2)--Senna had five wins and finished in the points (only top 6 back then) in every race he finished and came in second in the championship despite five DNFs (four mechanical, one collision). This was also the year of his epic Donington lap.

(For the sake of accuracy, Max is the current champion, he's not "former" yet.)

Watching the F1 Youtube highlights of qualifying.

Man that announcer is a fig. I get they want to hype up their product but that guy (don’t know his name) is worse than a Latin soccer announcer.

Looking at his sidepiece, I think he'll be more than alright.

93 was also the year of Michael Andretti.
Worst-timed entry into F1 ever.

Do you listen to podcasts? And if so, have you listened to Chris Harris and friends?

One of his friends, Manish Pandy, is a huge F1 historian/Senna fan/he produced the Senna documentary and some others more recently.
Lots of historical F1 talk on there that I think you’d enjoy.
