Wut?
AMS was arguably the best race on the circuit from the mid-90's through the beginning of the last decade. What the frick were you watching?

I watched a lot of strung out racing with very little passing.
Harvick-Kahn finish one year was good.

Xfinity race is awful. Single file for 99% of the race.
Didn't expect it, but the truck race was way more fun yesterday. My uncle and I ended up leaving after stage 2 of the xfinity race.

In 2022 they increased banking from 24 degrees to 28. Thats a lot and now you can’t hold the bottom. The change created single file racing on outside lane due to banking.
This also meant you can carry more speed in corners and that hurts racing. When cars have to de throttle a bit in corners it allows cars to take different lines and use bottom lane as well. Now you have to be on top due to banking.
But hey, call posters names instead of discussing, thats easier.

On superspeedways they red flag races with crashes to allow more racing. Atlanta is now a SS. Wby can’t they red flag the race once they throw yellow for cars running out of gas? Get those cars towed/pushed away and that allows everyone to make a decision to pit or not. They had 6 laps of caution.
But credit to Hill. He spent the whole last stage behind other cars and started fuel saving early. Amazing how much you can save for 70+ laps if you start early. The leader has no way to save as much unless he gives up lead.
No good way to fix fuel races. One wild idea is Nascar has an idea how many laps cars can run on full fuel no caution runs. Let’s say its 72 and caution comes out on 76. They should keep pits closed until 72 left and then open them. If within say 6 laps of hitting fuel window this could eliminate fuel races.
What we were robbed if was how race plays out at full throttle no caution. I think Love wins but there might have been a huge mixup of cars diving to bottom and creating excitement.
What I hate is they made Atlanta all about aero and packs vs ability to race. If you are in 5th and drop down to try and pass you will drop back to end of pack most likely. There is no incentive to try and pass. This is where SVG was smart. He never once dropped down to pass he just stayed in line all race long and got a 3rd place as cars ran out of gas. He was around 10-15 all race and I think did a great job of learning. The 3rd was mostly fuel racing luck just like most of the top 10 finishers. Hill did great saving for 70+ laps but that means he never raced for those laps he just rode around the track like a parade.

I know all this baw. I've been a race Fan for 30 years.
No need for the introduction to NASCAR.
You complain way too much for my liking.

I have never heard of glove specs in Nascar?
And a green flag pass thru at a track with a long green pit road is killer. For gloves? How can gloves alter or improve race pace?
Bob Pockrass
@bobpockrass
Joey Logano is starting from the front row but will have to do a pass-through at the start of the race for gloves not meeting SFI specification. Also Elliott to the rear for unapproved adjustments.

Only thing I can think on the gloves is the fire rating.

Did some digging and it was during qualifying. At a SS, a webbed glove can help aero they say (lol). So thats what it was. I guess by putting hand flat in that small window opening less air gets inside car as it helps block air.
Regardless, the penalty is way too big compared to offense. A green drive thru is likely a 2 lap penalty since pit starts in turn 3.
Chase to rear is due to an engine sensor change.

Logano should’ve used his new hairpiece instead of those gloves.

I think the issue is because of how the drivers hold their hand up between the window net and the A pillar during qualifying to block air coming into the car and creating drag. With the webbing in his gloves he would be able to block more air than the other drivers.

Buescher spins but no one hit him and he didn’t hit anything.

Have to disagree on that. Bowyer is pretty bad, though.

Josh Williams must hate Atlanta. Yesterday has a mechanical failure on lap 3. Today crashed out on lap 2.
