Someone’s gonna get spun here

Why did it take them so long to throw the caution?

That’s what I was wondering.
Mayer wins, Kligerman was 1 foot away from winning, finishes 6th instead.

Shane’s crew chief is a moron. A guy like Shane doesn’t need to play defense.
Shane might win that race if he’s on equal tires. I’ve been questioning that guy’s decisions since he took over.
It’s like the guy looks at what everyone else would do and does the exact opposite.

Larson toyed with the field, wins another one. Probably the championship favorite.

I’ll be shocked if anyone else wins it. Top 5 at talladega. Gets out front on strategy today and leads over half the race. Gonna be tough for anyone else.

The No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet was disqualified following post-race inspection at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, officials announced Sunday.
Alex Bowman wheeled the car to an 18th-place finish in Sunday‘s NASCAR Cup Series race, the final race of the Round of 12 and provisionally advanced by nine points. However, the vehicle was determined to be too light in post-race technical inspection, disqualifying the result and dropping Bowman to a 38th-place finish instead
As a result, Joey Logano becomes the final driver to advance to the Round of 8. Bowman joins Austin Cindric, Daniel Suárez and Chase Briscoe as the drivers eliminated from playoff contention.
Bowman won his way into the postseason with a July victory at the Chicago Street Course and had scored the most points through the postseason among playoff drivers entering Sunday.
Logano makes it in after all.

Wow, that story is going to dominate NASCAR news this week.

Someone is getting fired over this.

Damn, I was rooting for him!

I'll be curious to see what happened. They get a grace window of half a percent, so roughly 17 pounds. Means they were lighter than that.
NASCAR let them tip off fuel and water and they were still too light.
Assuming something came off the car at some point. They couldn't have been off all weekend because pre race tech would have caught it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. So easy to get caught.
I'm assuming they weigh every car.

“Toyed with the field” is not really true. What you had was a clown race where just about every Chase driver was only looking at points and not the win. Thats what this damn chase has done, drivers no longer trying to win only trying to score enough points and drive really safe to avoid a dumb error.
Why people can't see this is beyond me. Chase Elliott for example had a car to compete with Kyle. But his teams strategy was to maximize stage points. So instead of pitting before stage end (to have best chance of winning) they stayed out to get max stage points.
The chase has ruined racing not enhanced it. The last 40 laps was focused solely on Reddick and Lagano while so much other racing was going in and we didn’t get to see it.

Shut up.
frick off
We also had a shyster caution in Xfinity race. Waited waited waited then realized if they throw caution they get to have a possible carnage restart. Nascar loves that. So the leader took white flag but they said they pushed the button prior. Shafted a racer a win.

Does everyone recall a year ago Blaney was DQ’d at Vegas in the chase for a LF shock not meeting length. And after appeal Nascar rescinded it saying “template error”. And he went on to win title.
I don’t trust Nascar here. Sat yellow light cost Klingerman a win. Now HMS puts 4 cars in (of 8 spots) and car passes pre-race weight and not post-race. But the 48 hit track bumps hard and even got airborne. Likely lost some parts.
Smells fishy even it legit Nascar has lost all credibility. Feel bad for drivers who can’t give up top pay to go elsewhere.

Also about conflict of interest. I’ve harped on this since it started but the Hamlin ownership share of 23X is a major red flag.
Yesterday “at the time” Reddick needed another point or two to make the chase. Did anyone notice that Hamlin flat gave him the position with no work needed. I recall teams suspended doing this in the past within a team. Now an owner lets his owned team pass without effort. Clown show
