Larson says this:
“ It was good to have a little bit of a stress-free weekend," said Larson”
It seems to me that every weekend should be stressful. Part of the problem.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of the Nascar playoff. Much like every other serious racing series, points accumulated throughout the season should name the winner.

Exactly. Once he got points in stage 1 he was locked in chase. That allowed him and team to actually race for the win vs chase points all day. They even said so. That changes strategy where others not locked in had to points chase. Chase E had to stay out at end of both stages to collect 15 stage points which had he not done cost him a chase spot. Without chasing points he would have pitted early and been up front at start of next stage. He was in 28th after that last stage and raced up to 5th. Imagine had he been in 3rd to start the last stage and the battle we missed.
All the cars not locked in are chasing points and not being aggressive drivers. That makes it dull. Add in non chasers don’t want to interfere so tip toe around chasers.

Hendrick will not appeal because they intentionally sabotaged Bowman to make sure Elliot, Larson and Byron would advance. Bowman should go to a new team that gives a shite about him.

Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reporting that NASCAR is looking at a street race in San Diego, they like the idea of San Diego Bay as a backdrop.

A true southern sport which had massive viewership and loyal fans then.
Now it seems they are putting races in Dem strongholds (cities run by Dems) and other locations run by Dems.
And we wonder why the sport has gone downhill. A 3rd Gen series owner is the one putting the final nail in coffin.

I comment and complain about the sport
You do nothing but complain about posters
Spot the difference?

They are chasing the money, not political parties.

I disagree. They are chasing the money in blue cities.
OKC is a red run city and is central US making it easy for fans to attend from all over. It’s the largest non Dem run city in US (the Pub mayor is almost a Dem in actions though).
San Diego is on the very fringe corner of the US and makes it hard for fans to travel. And is blue city.
Chicago is deep in blue run cities. They are taking races from red areas and moving to blue areas.

I don’t want to get into political stuff, I don’t discuss that online, but you’re reading way too much into it. There’s a lot more money and potential new viewers and advertising dollars in Chicago and San Diego than there is in Oklahoma City. This hasn’t been about asses in seats for a long time.

Ok fair. But the road course stuff does jot suit this clown car. Narrow edges with concrete barriers combined with cars that break toe links so easily. Now gonna add in another road course in SD that will have the same thing. Not to mention the way higher cost for teams to travel and stay there which hurts budgets.
They are trying too hard and destroying what made it great. I hate to see it but its happening. And those so called new viewers are not loyal viewers and will run away soon enough. And the loyal viewers are leaving too.
The core viewers are eastern time. 3 hour difference to SD.

I actually like the street course idea. I like the layout of Chicago. I don’t think a course in San Diego should come at the expense of another track though. If Chicago doesn’t renew for 26 then I like it. If Chicago is here to stay, then put the idea to bed.
This is effectively a sports car. It races like such. It’s great on intermediates because it’s not designed for them. The gen 6 was great on road courses because it wasn’t built for them. The car produces too much grip. Guys don’t pay the price as much for overstepping that line.
Figure out how to take grip away and it’s a start. Guys have to really overdrive this far to make up ground.

We all talked about this earlier in thread. Give more HP. Make tires a bit skinnier. That requires more skill driving. Would also force them to slow down in corners even on super speedways.
I like road courses in general because it does have more action. I just don’t want to overdo them in quantity.

Several years ago A.J. Foyt did a great interview with the late Robin Miller in which he talked about how frickin’ hard it was to drive a stock car 50 years ago when they had little bitty spoilers, he said in true Foyt style, “They got those sonsabitches pinned so hard to the ground now that I don’t see how it’s possible to spin out.”

There’s no penalty anymore. There’s a reason they are called slot cars now.
