This was clearly a bad take and I'm sorry. I just downvoted my self.

Never show weakness. Got a bad take (as judged by this esteemed crowd )? Who cares? Own it and say

no news, but i don't think this can go on much longer

quote:

| BBC Sport:

“After Red Bull's three-time champion Max Verstappen twice failed to give Horner unqualified backing in a news conference in Bahrain, FIA President Ben Sulayem approached the Dutchman and said he should publicly back his boss.

BBC Sport has been told, Verstappen responded by saying Ben Sulayem should launch his own inquiry into the matter.”

WTF, Max/Newey/Helmut all want Horner gone, Horner had a scandal that would have made it easy to dump him, and he's still around. I don't get it.

thai side of red bull that owns 51% backs him. as do many others at the factory. i think this is all a power play by the austrians.

But...why?

They're willing to blow it all up and lose Max and Newey to keep Horner...why? He's clearly the least important of the 3.

i think they will eventually be convinced to can him, but christian is a damn good TP and i doubt the thais care about the harassment allegations. so i could see why they're loyal to him.

Horner will get another job very quick if he is canned.

This is just like the Chicago Bulls ending the Jordon dynasty.

I hadn't seen it mentioned here yet, unless I missed it, but there was also a rumor that the reason the Austrians want him out is because Horner, with the backing of some British funding, had attempted to buy the Austrian owned portion of the race team out from under them without their knowledge, hints the bad blood.

I'm assuming the first attempt was the harassment leaks and once that's failed now they're trying to say that Max and/or Newey might be out if Horner isn't removed.

Heard that, and he nuked the Porsche deal without consulting anyone.

I know Ford is questioning their partnership. Really think its less to do with the scandal and more to do with the certainty of the team for the next few years.

If Ford pull out, where does that leave RB from an engine standpoint?

They would be in deep shite, imo. Bucky suggests that they are behind for ‘26 as it stands now, and if their EV partner just upped and left, they would surely sink further

Ford is just a sponsorship deal, Red Bull will still be building the PUs and Ford was supposed to lend some tech/engineering from their hybrid division but I wouldn't be shocked if that was all to show that Ford was helping when really they have nothing to do with the actual construction/development. Ford pulling out would just be a massive sponsorship $$$ loss most likely.

https://racer.com/2024/03/05/ben-sulayem-now-hit-with-allegations-over-vegas-gp/

quote:

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been hit with fresh accusations from a whistleblower, this time claiming that he allegedly told officials not to homologate the Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit,

quote:

In the article, the BBC cites another report to the ethics committee, with the whistleblower claiming that they were contacted by their manager “who on behest of the FIA president instructed him to find some concerns to prevent the FIA from certifying the circuit before the weekend of the race” in Las Vegas.

Had the circuit not been certified, the race would not have been allowed to go ahead.

What would be the motivation for tanking Vegas?

No one knows but that won't stop rampant, Twitter speculation. It doesn't matter if it's true - as long as you're the first to say it.
