Honestly, wouldn't have mattered for this season. Sounds like that car is locked in and Max will do his thing.

Huge swing and a miss...

Like I mentioned earlier when this came out, it was likely him being an a-hole/overly demanding boss... Like ALL successful managers or coaches are.

It would have been extremeley surprising for sexual texts to go on as long as claimed and then suddenly come to light.

Big shocker there.

I kinda figured it was a nothingburger when I saw "controlling behavior" as a main complaint. Like yeah no shite, he's your boss. Sounds like disciplinary/competitive action hurt someone's feelings.

Steiner didn’t believe. The head guy doesn’t believe then that permeates through the team. Even if it’s bullshite, the head guy has to portray an aura of confidence and positivity.

Komatsu now thinks they can finish 8th in the constructors.

Apparently the car isn't as bad as he thought.

So last year, FanDuel had Max at -170 for WCC before the first race.

This year the line started at -650 and now sits at -750. Guess they wised up. I'm sad I only put $50 on it last year.

But they have another line for "betting without Max Verstappen" which I guess means you're picking who finishing in P2?

Interesting summary from reddit on what's going on at Red Bull, the parent company, and how it relates to Horny Spice and Darth Helmut.

quote:

[ErikvHaren] Christian Horner acquitted, although insiders believe the saga is not over yet. Regardless of any appeal or legal follow-up steps taken by the employee in question, it has once again become clear in recent weeks that there is trouble within Red Bull's top management.

quote:

I think the idea is It’s a power struggle after Dietrich’s death

In the past Dietrich had an active but remote and far removed interest in Red Bull F1 as he didn't like to attend races. His friend Marko was his representative at races and also in charge of the driver program whilst Horner ran the Red Bull team.

when it came to big picture ideas and decisions like drivers; Horner and Marko decided together. For a non driver example it was reported that Marko and Horner together decided to take on the Honda engine and run it as a Red Bull engine. They went to Dietrich to sell him on the idea and have him sign off on it.

The problem is when you have 2 people deciding something together, what happens when you disagree? The old answer was take it to Dietrich and let Dietrich make the final say.

Now that Dietrich is dead if Marko and Horner disagree who makes the final say? His death meant the joint power/ joint decision making was no longer tenable and according to reports Horner tried to get the backing from the Thai owners to take over these decisions solely, sidestepping Marko.

However this failed and Marko extended his contract with the new corporate management in Austria.

Then to complicate things further; Though Dietrich had a 49% share of the company he signed a deal with the Thai owners of the other 51% to have full control of the company and decision making. So Dietrich really did have sole authority over everything.

However while his son inherited the 49% shares, the deal of full control did not transfer to his son. That expired with Dietrich’s death.

And so management over Red Bull GmbH is more complicated. The Thai owners, the Yoovidhya’s own the majority shares and are now no longer restrained from making decisions.

Add on to this the fact that Mark matechitz may have inherited the 49% shares but is not the CEO. There are now CEOs for the beverage side and the marketing/sports side. So the running of the company in Austria has become far more corporate. With some reports saying that Oliver Mintzlaff one of the CEO’s wants more control over the F1 team.

All in all the removal of Dietrich’s unchallenged, unquestioned running of the company when he died has led to uncertainty and instability in Red Bull.

Or so the reports are alleging

Edit: forgot to add it’s reported that Max, though fine with both of them is more loyal to Marko than Horner and there are reports Jos and Horner had a falling out. So Jos is very much on Marko’s side in the power struggle.

There were rumblings of a power struggle last year and I've thought all along this "accusation" concerning Racy Spice was related.

All right, I'm tired of the Yuki disrespect and the Yuki slander. I'm calling it right now, Yuki beats Danny Ric this year. Do I say that with a high degree of confidence? Of course not. But both Yuki and Danny are a little hard to predict, and I'm just going by last year's results. I paid very close attention to AlphaTauri last year after they fired Debris and hired Danny. I believe Danny's experience helped the team, but in the end, Yuki beat him. I see no reason to expect Danny to start dominating Yuki. Danny's career ends with VCARB, not Red Bull.

If fightin tigers doesn't show up, I will compile the predictions.

To get more people in, let's make the deadline the start of the race. Have your predictions posted by Saturday, March 2 at 9:00 am CST.

Since people will already have seen qualifying results, if you have already submitted your prediction, you can edit your original prediction post until the race start. Make sure the edit time is no later than 9:00 am.

Like last year, this is a prediction of the final standings. I want to change the scoring system. IIRC, last year you only got points when you predicted a team's or driver's position exactly (it was weighted so you got more points for being correct at the top). I was thinking of creating a scoring system where you get points based on how close you predict each team or driver's position compared to their actual position. If you predict a driver's position exactly, you get maximum points, and you get fewer points the further your prediction is from their actual position. Then, each position's score will be multiplied by a different weighting factor. You get more credit for being accurate predicting P1, with the weighting factor decreasing down to P20.

Another thing I was thinking about was splitting the season in two. Your pre-season prediction will be scored against the standings after the last race before the August break. During the August break you can submit a new prediction, which will then be scored against the final season standings. Your final score will be the sum of your two scores from the 1st and 2nd halves of the season. If you don't submit a new prediction during the break, your original prediction will be used to calculate your 2nd half score. The idea here of course is that our pre-season predictions may be wildly off (e.g., see McLaren's drastic change of form last year), so scoring the 2nd half of the season separately allows for a more competitive finish. This is just an idea, I can bring this up again at the August break.
