Regardless. It didn’t just screw max. It screwed 3 others as well, including Checo who’s driving for his damn career. It was a bullshite delay - almost a minute to red flag it after all other red flags were basically instant.

Four cars parked at the end of pit lane waiting for at least a couple of minutes for the green flag. They were in a hurry to try to squeeze in two hot laps. But by sitting out in the cold, their tires cooled off.
Tsunoda, Lawson, and Russell waited in the garage with the tires warmers on. They were not in a hurry because they intended to do just one hot lap. So they came out when there was no waiting to get on the track. All three finished in the top 5.
IIRC, Lando improved his pole time on both of his hot laps, so he wasn't affected by sitting in pit lane. But Leclerc was certainly affected, as his radio conversation below indicates. I think Piastri made a mistake at Turn 1, which may have been caused by tires not up to temperature.
(If you're not familiar with these automatically generated radio transcripts, they don't distinguish between the driver and the person they are talking to, so you have to interpret who is saying what. Also the most recent transmission is at the top, so read from the bottom.)
