For those asking, if LaJoie wins in No. 9 car, he makes the drivers championship playoffs (Chase would have to earn his way in with a win or by pts) while the HMS No. 9 car would be in owners playoffs. The bonus $$ for end of season based entirely on owner finish, not driver.
——
I think he is wrong. He would have to get a waiver for all other races and Nascar would never do that for a full season, to give a one time driver a waiver. And if Chase wins he’s in, so what car would Lejoi drive? I bet he corrects this.
Car owner is different and the 9 is in 16th right now. Chase had 4 top 10’s in 8 races but got wrecked out of at least 2.

How many times has Hamlin put people in the wall at Bristol and Richmond? Seems like Bubba's raging pussy syndrome has infected Hamlin.

They had to do it to have any level of credibility. He needs to take his medicine and move on.
But here’s something I’ll toss out to y’all. In conversation on another board I frequent, a dedicated racing board, some folks are saying that it seems to them that Chase’s desire is ebbing, that he seems bored with it all. I haven’t really noticed that, but what do y’all think?
I mean, moving forward IMO none of these guys who’ve literally been racing since they were 12 years old are gonna do this until their 50s like folks used to.

Nah.
If anything, this year has proven to him how lucky/fortunate he is to do what he does.
And Chase has been racing since he was 4. He was a legend here in North Georgia/Atlanta by the time he was 10.

Nah, if he was bored he doesn’t have fire and desire therefore he doesn’t turn Hamlin. I think he hates the circus its become, like Nascar mandating drivers come on stage during a concert in Chicago next month. All the social media doesn’t allow drivers to get away. Old days you could.
I think his season has just went upside diwn with injury and he’s written it off. Combined with on track decorem. He had enough being nice and fought back and gets suspended. This might help him be more aggressive in a not give a flip mode.

Chase has always been a reserved, quiet almost to the point of shy person. He's an introvert like his dad although not as much IMO.
He also strikes me as an old soul who is a stone cold country boy from the Smokies foothills of Dawson County.
Disagree. If that had been the case he wouldn't be so adamant about wanting to win his way into the chase instead of pointing in.

I think it’s good that Nascar is doing that in Chicago. Allows new fans to see drivers for the first time. One of the best things about nascar is that it is a fan interactive sport. I’m sure it can be hard on drivers at times but marketing is part of the job.

Honestly, I think if a driver gets suspended then there should be no wavier.

Happy for LaJoie that he is getting a chance to run in a top tier ride. He really wanted a ride with Hendrick when Jimmie retired, now he is getting a bit of an audition to show what he can do in good equipment.

In other news, Bob tweeted this earlier:
Kind of funny that Bubba and Almirola ended up being two of the three drivers running the tire test after their heated exchange yesterday.

You guys are really reaching now.
He deserved to be parked for a race but taking his waiver away is overkill IMO.
The suspension is enough.
And don't encourage that guy.

Agree. Bubba wasn’t made ineligible for the playoffs last year, so no reason to do it to Chase after one incident. If it happens again, then maybe, but I doubt that will be an issue.

Why? He did something stupid to get suspended. I can understand medical waviers to a certain point but why should he get a waiver for something he did intentionally? In some aspects, it could be viewed as breaking a rule of conduct. Also, I would say this if it was any other driver or the couple I pull for.

Denny posting the SMT data forced NASCAR's hand. The data proved he turned the wheel into the 11.

Yup. I posted that yesterday and called Hamlin a whiney snitch. He is.
Now that nascar used SMT data they set another marker that has to be met for any future issues. Not good for sport.
For example, Ross has hit everything but the winners circle and no suspension. But, his owner told him to stop hitting cars and it worked so far (2 races). And he can’t get to front without hitting. But the main point is it was handled.
Something else no one has brought up. These teams have meetings all hands on deck. Hendrick has been wrecked constantly this year and you wonder if Chase decided he is having none of it. Larson has been wrecked out of 3 races in a row prior to this one. I womder if team meetings discuss these things and if it had any bearing on Chase. Just another angle.
I think after this weekend they go to Sanoma and Chase does well there. I can see him win and that puts an exclamation point on everything.

Good point!
Idea: To add some spice at the stage endings drivers get out of cars and go into a tent with other drivers (make it mandatory). Can duke out any hard feelings then leave and get back to racing again. No Nascar officials either just some security guys to keep it from getting out of hand. Could sell PPV streams to it.

The suspension is enough. Let's leave it at that.
