Honestly, I think if a driver gets suspended then there should be no wavier.
Horrible take. The suspension is for actions in one race and have nothing to do with points earned all season long. The suspension is a points loss and it hurts the drivers potential to earn stage/win points for Chase. Plus regular points, which drivers are still ranked and get playoff points high to low.
It would be like NFL suspending someone a game and then say they can’t do playoffs. Or NBA suspending a player for too many techs and saying he can’t do playoffs.
There is no reason to even think this way because then Nascar would never suspend anyone and risk the 10 race playoff ratings.
One race hurts a driver bigly.

It not a horrible take. It's like I tell my 12 y/o all the time, "Decisions have consequences." If you're going to make it a penalty, make it a REAL penalty. Then things will stop.

If a driver can still win a championship after a penalty, it's not a penalty.

#14 Team hit with a huge penalty.
NASCAR.com
The points penalty drops Briscoe from 17th in points and -4 from the cut line following the Coke 600 to 31st in points and -124 from the cut line.

NASCAR issued an L3-level penalty, the most severe punishment under the sanctioning body’s deterrence system, to Stewart-Haas Racing after the discovery of a counterfeit part in the team’s No. 14 Ford. As a result, the No. 14 team has been docked 120 points in both the owner standings and driver standings for Chase Briscoe; an additional loss of 25 playoff points should Briscoe and the team qualify for the postseason; and a $250,000 fine and suspension in the next six points races to crew chief John Klausmeier.

Ouch. Probably the stiffest penalty NASCAR has handed down with regards to the next gen car.

Wow, thats a massive penalty. And I read they are not appealing it.
Aboit Chase E, I wonder if he could race in Busch or trucks this week or if he can’t do any nascar races. Would be funny if he went to Portland road race and won.

It's not a troll. It's my honest opinion. If a penalty is erased as soon as the playoffs start, is it really a penalty? No, it's not.

If SHR is cheating, they need to get more for their efforts....

I just found an interview with Elton Sawyer, he said it was an engine panel (I couldn’t make out the next word) duct. If y’all have better ears than me, here’s the link and have at it.

“Elton Sawyer said the NACA duct to the engine panel — it is a single-source part and designed to help cool the car — was counterfeit on the Briscoe car.”
“NASCAR says the engine panel duct was *counterfeit.* So not just modified. If I understand correctly, it was a part they created and passed off as real, with labeling and everything.”

Memorial Day weekend U.S. motorsports viewership:
1) Indy 500: 4.92 million viewers
2) Coke 600: 3.40 million
3) Monaco Grand Prix: 1.79 million

Wow. Hard to believe that the 2011 Coke 600 had 8.13 million viewers.
2011 really isn’t considered the heyday of NASCAR.

Unless you are trying somehow, some way to get an edge, why go through so much trouble? Don’t understand it.
And you think the other SHR racing cars are going to be under a microscope if not a proctoscope this weekend LOL?

They never take the 23 car to R&D tho. Trying to bring all other top teams down to prop up 23 so they can win and exploit that card. Problem now is the 45 runs better than 23.
What I read is SHR made this part and then faked Nascar inspection stickers. I think what happens is Nascar has spies around the garage and when they pick cars to R&D one of them was snitched out, and Nascar will tear down to see.
This is what cars look like wben teams pick them back up from Nascar

Don’t the results say otherwise?
