I just can't wrap my head around that second red flag. That was so unnecessary. It's like the caution decisions prioritize generating the most entertainment rather than what's actually needed.

Just finished up.

What a clusterfrick of a "race." It all started with that first red flag, which robbed us of pit strategy. 2nd red flag was total bullshite. Sometimes a race ends under yellow, and F1 needs to be okay with that.

Would have saved about an hour and saved us from that circus. Absolutely a disgrace of race handling.

I'd've been pretty pissed if I stayed up for the race.

The was not lacking on entertainment. There were also some other great battles throughout it. Ot just leaves you with a bad taste when all this other crap happens and it feels like fia worked some magic.

Sainz post race radio. Heartbreaking but I do think he's at fault

Something I’ve realized this season is that Mick Schumacher was so bad, he made K-Mag look good.

Max over the line at the restart.
Not according to the shadow. Camera angle from above and behind can make it appear that way, but his tire shadow is well behind it. Find a different view of the moment. That view makes everyone appear over the line. He was exactly on the line with his front tires which is legal. Also, the FIA has sensors report on every car to tell them if they are outside the lines.

Article 48.1 (c) of the FIA’s Sporting Regulations states penalties can be handed to a driver should they have “any part of the contact patch of its front tires outside of the lines (front and sides) at the time of the Start signal.” The 'contact patch' is that bit of the tire that actually touches the ground.

The car can sit forwards of that white line, but the contact patch is just, by a matter of probably a few millimeters, fully in contact with the white line and past and over it.

So Verstappen’s car is just within the regulations.

Except that Alonso's position was restored, and Sainz was not the cause of the red flag. Because they rolled the order back to the start of the 57th lap, Sainz caused no damage and should not have been penalized.

I like Alonso so I'm glad he kept his podium but if sainz had knocked Hamilton or Max out i would be screaming like a bitch about conspiracies and an insane decision to restore his podium because I'm a raging sports hypocrite.

You can't pretend the start just never happened. Sainz caused it and should have been penalized but the field should be the order at the next loop then yellow or vsc or whatever.

Self-awareness is always a good thing.

Oh I agree. They should have at least waited until everyone passed the next timing line before calling a red flag (apparently some cars passed it and some did not). Sometimes you have to wave a red flag immediately because of dangerous conditions, but that's not what happened here. They did it for entertainment reasons, so they could have waited a few more seconds. So Hulk and Yuki ended up getting hosed and Alonso saved.

?

KMag is up 2-1 over his teammate in races this year and scored the team's first points. It's not his fault his team pitted him a lap before a red flag.

| Reduced Gap? This weekend Red Bull lost 0.2-0.3s to the upper cluster (AM, FER, MERC) According to an opposing team's engineer this was due to a compromised set-up and the engine power being reduced by 10hp This is not a "real" drop in pace

A compromised setup and reduced power seems to be Ferraris plan this year as well

Race was wild. Very entertaining. Just wish the race would’ve finished with actual racing other than dodgy FIA decisions. Completely don’t get why Sainz was awarded the 5 sec. penalty if the lap didn’t count. I guess just due to fact he still caused a crash and some punishment was necessary

Mag caused all that late race drama by hitting the wall.

F1 is becomikg Nascar with their decisions and clown show ending.

Hiw much did Mag cost Haas in destroyed car vs Hul was going to finish 9th but got 7th - and how much dollar gain is those 2 spots worth at end if year payout? Is the gain more than cost of Mag car wreck cost?

F1 shoukd have called the race after that wreckfest last restart. What did they think would happen. At that point of race every position gained in first 2 corners was going to be finish order so of course drivers were going to wreck each other. Reminds me of COTA Nascar restarts. And how much did that last restart cost owners in wrecked cars? It might be $50m?
