We can start shitposting in IMSA threads about how the racing is different and not what we like.

Broadcast said the Checo had a little more downforce on the rear wing and therefore didn’t have the top end speed as Max and Ferrari. That’s why he looked great when in a slip stream but when in open air was an easier target.

I know it was mentioned during the race, but I did think it was funny Max asked to work together then left Checo to get eaten up.

Not really a problem with it, but then Max throws salt in the wound with "I did everything I could do"

Do you mean Max was asked?

And he did fall back from up by 5 to only 2 trying to give Checo a slip stream.

When Max was in 3rd he said "let's work together and we can get these guys"

He did drop back. Not saying he didn't do something. But he also left Checo without DRS to fight.

All that was going and then leclerc messed up a bit and gave Max an easy pass.

I don't blame Max for taking the lead easily.

Checo should drive faster.

Las Vegas GP was insane in person.

Notes about the Fans:
-Most people we met were there for the race and racing. But more than a small percentage were there for being on IG.
-Tons of RB fans but lots of vocal Checo Fans. Max got booed a few times where you would expect.
-Fireworks for the end seemed to be delayed.
-The cars are much louder in person. The sound system was great but got drowned out when the cars would come around.
-had an absolute blast but may not go again if the tickets stay that high. definitely won't buy them on presale.
- did hear a few people in the skybox say they wouldn't pay for those again and would rather sit in the grand stands.
-drinks ran about 20 bucks each, but the food was free and better than Tiger Stadium food.
-Fan zone was pretty nice.

If you think they were loud go to an event when F2 is also racing. Those cars are LOUD.

Maybe street circuits maximmize the sounds with echos, but at COTA they aren't really loud at all. I brought ear plugs the first time I went expecting nascar loud and was disappointed.

Max skill level though>>>

Verstappen has been overperforming Perez all season long... In Las Vegas, he kept an 11km/h higher cornering speed in the fastest corner despite running a less loaded wing!?? The lower drag paid dividends concerning top speed: +3km/h with DRS +4km/h without DRS

Did you even watch the race? He immediately slowed down about 3s to try and give him a tow.

Sound must’ve been bouncing back from the paddock wall.

They weren’t as loud as nascar, but I figured that was because they weren’t bunched up like they were in talladega.

Could he have slowed down to give him DRS?

I bet they sound good within a city for sure. I've been in corners both times at COTA where their exhausts were pointed at me as they were accelerating and they sound decently loud but I'm sure it's nothing like the old days.

It was way too little too late. That's on the team for sure. I'll give max credit for slowing down some the last lap or two as directed.

If he wanted he could have given DRS. Like I said, don't really blame him not wanting to risk it over Checo though.

Should have never bolted off without Checo really, but that is something the team should have handled a lot earlier if their goal was 1/2 finish. .

Anyone think Max is going to slow down and give DRS so Checko can wreck em both in last straight final corner getting too close, trying to pass him for win knowing he’s likely out after year?

No way Max was going to risk that. He did slow down to give him some sniffs of air. But Checko still choked in last long straight final corner by conceding the inside line.
