Why did Cheko give up the inside position on last lap last big straight? Had he taken inside it forces LeClerc to take outside and get squeezed.

Bc he’s Checo

It is a F1 driver thing to always take the racing line if you are leading. I don't get it either, seems like with how drivers are allowed to control the track on the inside now that would always be the ideal defense position.
I'm not an F1 driver though, so there is that.

Lacks focus according to Darth Helmut
Also huge missed troll opportunity by Sphere not having Helmut watching Checo on the last lap.

That was a really fun race. As said earlier the last safety car fricked LeClerc or he wins easily. He did an epic job managing those hard tires to have enough left at the end for the pass. There’s hope for Ferrari fans. It seems that they might be starting to get their race pace to where it needs to be. Now do it on a hot track.

It'll be fun in Abu Dhabi watching Merc and Ferrari. 392 and 388 points, respectively. I think Ferrari can do it.

Russel Bin Laden is going to take out Chuckles. That way Lewis just needs to keep it tight with Sainz or let them Ferrari themselves.

The next time verstappen gets a penalty for something like that will be the first since he became the golden boy.
Honestly surprised he got any sort of penalty at all

The penalties have been weak this year. They need to address this give back the position or take a 5 second penalty. Probably needs to be a drive through the pit penalty.
ETA: I do wish they had the support races to make the track sticky. I get not having all of them, but maybe just a F2 race would help.

Yea he’s insanely talented driver and he’s in a car that is so far ahead of the competition
5 second time penalty(lol), broken front wing, still wins race by 5+ seconds if not for trying to tow his teammate.
Said teammate gives up lead and gets passed by a slower car on older tires, twice. Needs teammate to slow down to help him out. Gets passed on the last lap by a slower car for the 2nd week in a row.
But blueboy will still be here to tell us the Red Bull isn’t far and away the best car and Perez is actually a great driver

Max's comment about the penalty was fricking gold.

Really enjoyed that race and I like the track.
Max probably wins even if he has to give back his position but the 5 second penalty was extremely weak.
Only disappointing part for me was the grid walk. I was looking forward to that grid walk given the amount of stars there but there were so many people on it Brundle could barely even see what was in front of him. They need to limit the number of people on the grid next year, that was an overload.

Seemed like every slapdick that shelled out 10k or so could do grid walk

This was a couple of years ago
GP: "Black and white flag for weaving on the straight" Verstappen: "Yeah, perfect. Say hi."

Random thought. Since Red Bull has wrapped up everything, could they switch driver lineups with alpha tauri for the final race to try to pass Williams?
I know this would never happen.
If they did it, how do you think max would adapt to a new/slower car?

I think that Alpha Tauri has used all the drivers they can for the year.
Would likely need a special exception to bring in a new driver.
Max would be a great driver in a slow car. Would probably look better than RIC and Yuki. He isn't going to suddenly have it winning races.

Cannot wait to see the Ferrari/Merc fight at the end and if given the chance, does Horner help Ferrari beat the Merc by giving tows and the likes?
Also, how quickly after the final race do we hear that Checo is out? I give it less than 7 days.

Has a driver ever been canned after coming in #2 in champ rankings?

Alonso is probably the closest at Mclaren. Technically 3rd.
Depending on how you view Irvine leaving the red team.
