Saudis taking over F1 ?
Spanners routinely has Joe Saward as a guest so I'd think that's his source.

Makes sense. I'm surprised they haven't already. They can put their unfathomable wealth to good use here by using F1 as a massive world-wide propaganda tool.

If true it could be the end of my F1 days.

If they get rid of sprints it will be the greatest sports wash in history.

Crazy how a few days ago it was they were buying AM

For sprint weekends it should be:
Practice 1
Practice 2
Qualifying
Sprint - Reverse grid based off quali
Race - Reg qualifying order
I'd leave the Sprint with the same qualifying order as the race...but don't have the points affect the Championships. There should be a separate season-long Sprint Championship or prize.
ETA - but like most, I would rather no Sprints at all. The above is if they HAVE to stay.

Saudis buying it would be pretty shitty.

Are we sure it wasn't from the offroading the previous lap?

Ugh.
They're already going to essentially be taking over the PGA Tour, now this. Don't want to see this happen.

No Formula Rules Shootout
No Formula Rules Sprint
Quali - regular rules then enter Parc Ferme
Race - Reg qualifying order
Open up fuel flow, ride height, engine modes, whatever it takes outside of removing safety for the Sprint. Sprint only engines. Whatever.

I don't think it would be the end, but probably the beginning of the end because of the moves they would make.
Maybe it opens up the market for A1 Grand Prix to stage a comeback

I could get behind this. Sprints are the unlimited category races.

BREAKING NEWS: Point out @joesaward that the signing of Fernando Alonso for Red Bull is POSSIBLE. ?? According to Saward, Fernando, at 42 years old, would fit very well into the team until Red Bull gets someone younger. ?? Red Bull can break Checo Pérez's contract without financial compensation, since at the moment, Checo does not reach 50% of Max Verstappen's points (290 vs 491 points).

Journalist Joe Saward in his ‘Green Notebook’ on the Alonso-Red Bull rumours: “It did not take long to hear from Spain that Alonso may be about to embark on some more fancy footwork, with the suggestion being that he is not going to stay at Aston Martin in 2024, although he is supposed to have “a multi-year contract”. The word is that he could pop up next year at Red Bull
I want to believe

Maybe Fernando would bridge the gap until Lando is free?

Perez is at 240 points, to actually make the clause true

If only they had someone like Liam Lawson waiting in the wings.
This move doesn't really seem logical in a team now struggling with too many drivers and not enough seats.
