Need some help here... Anyone ever watch the Race in 30s on F1 TV app?
My kid likes to watch these. Last season he watched all the Race in 30s, and it defaults to the international crew with Crofty announcing.
This year, we just started, and it's the other guy, and my kid doesn't like him lol.
Anyone know if it's possible or how to switch it? Know how for a race, but not for Race in 30.

For those missing F1, here's a race this weekend that you might be interested in. With 3 rounds left in the Super Formula season, Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson has a chance to become the first rookie champion since Ralf Schumacher did it 27 years ago.
us.motorsport.com/super-formula/news/toms-motegi-miyata-lawson-battle/10507382/
Lawson is a pretty intriguing F1 candidate. In 2021 Lawson and Alex Albon were teammates in DTM, and both rookies. Lawson had 3 wins, 10 podiums, 4 pole positions, and finished P2 in the championship, just 3 points behind the winner. Albon had 1 win, 4 podiums, 1 pole position, and finished P6 in the championship (Albon missed two of the 16 races). (They easily won the team championship for the Red Bull sponsored Ferrari team.)
Lawson on Super Formula:
quote:
"The car is extremely fast, faster than Formula 2, a lot closer to Formula 1. Sometimes it even feels like Formula 1 in some corners. Downforce is pretty exceptional."
I've seen clips, but I've never watched a Super Formula race live. Looks like the only legit way to watch the live race is on the motorsport.tv site. I signed up for a month for $6 so I can watch the race. Unfortunately I believe the race is on Sun 8/20 at 1:45 am ET, bad for you, but OK for me at 10:45 pm Saturday night on the west coast.

So, both the Arrow McLaren IndyCar team and the McLaren F1 operation are suing Alex Palou for supposed salary already forwarded to him (for a 2024 McLaren IndyCar seat), and compensation for the investment in his F1 development (e.g., simulator time, participation in FP1 sessions, etc.).
Isn't this the same whining that we got from Alpine when McLaren poached Piastri?
I'm just posting this so people can express their opinions about Zak Brown.
www.si.com/fannation/racing/f1briefings/news/f1-news-mclaren-files-lawsuit-against-alex-palou-after-paying-millions-of-dollars-before-major-snub
Here's my timeline of motivations and events:
1. 2021 Alex Palou IndyCar champion wanted to get to F1.
2. In 2022, McLaren lured him in for 2023 using an F1 seat as a carrot. There was an F1 seat available but no guarantees, he could be sent to the IndyCar team first. Palou took the bait.
3. Chip Ganassi took exception to this, exercising his option to extend Palou another year, and threatening to sue. They all came to an arrangement where Palou would drive for Chip in 2023 but would be a McLaren F1 reserve driver. Palou was still hopeful to get a McLaren F1 seat.
4. It's 2023 and Piastri has developed well and looks to have a secure McLaren F1 future. There will be no McLaren seats open in the foreseeable future.
5. Palou is having an incredible year and is headed for his 2nd IndyCar championship. He still wants to go to F1 but he sees that he can't expect a McLaren F1 seat to open up anytime soon.
6. McLaren expects that Palou will drive for their IndyCar team in 2024, and again the carrot is F1, not the McLaren IndyCar team, which hasn't won a race this year. Meanwhile, Palou has won four races and Ganassi has won six races total.
7. Palou has wised up and doesn't want to join McLaren unless it's directly to an F1 seat, which is not available. So he makes it clear he will not join McLaren. He will either race for Chip or go directly to an F1 seat. BTW, he candidly said recently that he has no F1 offers yet.
8. McLaren throws a fit because of the "investment" they put into Palou, just like how Alpine whined about their investment into Piastri, whom McLaren poached into the seat that they were dangling to Palou.

I still like Zak, but I love to see this.
He has been going around dangling bait infront of ever driver not in F1 and it finally bit him in the arse.
Palou is a long way from an F1 drive. Not saying he isn't good or doesn't deserve it, but that jump from Indy to F1 is going to be hard now that he left Europe.

tell me you didnt watch motorsport until DTS premiered without telling me you didnt watch motorsport until DTS premiered
Palou was almost as fast as Norris in his first ever FP1 outing in an unfamiliar car
Palou is without a doubt the 2nd best driver in the world ATM
Dominating Indycar in 2023, a series with extreme parity, and a field that has at least 10 guys that would be at the upper echelon of F1 , is arguably the most impressive racing feat of the modern era
Palou is excellent with tire wear, has superb racecraft , and is an Alain Prost or Scott Dixon v2
every one of his attributes is projectible in F1 if he chooses to go that route
I’m saying this as someone who roots against Palou every week
If he was teamed with Max at Redbull he would be giving him a serious run for his money

Super Formula is rad, but the driving talent is pretty mid
Lawson is a great driver, but I don’t think he would crack the top 15 in Indycar on a mid pack team

he holds the cards more than we think
Like any sane person he’d only leave for F1 in a top ride- He isnt going to leave Ganassi for Alpha Tauri or Williams
There was a rumor that Honda helped keeped him at Ganassi until 2026 until Aston Martin gets Honda Engines / Alonso retires
Palou would slot into Aston Martin as his replacement
This gives Palou the chance to win an Indy 500 or two and a few more championships

Oof. Lawson a little aggressive around the outside on lap one. Yikes that looked bad.

The one time I decide to watch Super Formula, to check out possible future F1 star Liam Lawson, he shows his immaturity and gets involved in one of the most cinematic crashes I've ever seen. It's worthy of Brad Pitt's new film.
Here are a couple of angles of the accident:
twitter.com/ahmed_baokbah/status/1693157783728775545
twitter.com/gingofthesouth/status/1693156371414544685
One of the Twitter comments:
quote:
Ricciardo’s pressuring everyone just by being in a car again.
The crash reminded me of Grosjean's crash in Spain in 2018: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPjf-jtXMQU
After qualifying, Lawson's 1pt for P3 put him in a tie with Ritomo Miyata at 86 points, but Lawson's 3 wins vs Miyata's 2 wins made Lawson the championship leader. After the race, Lawson's Red Bull teammate and defending SF champion Tomoki Nojiri got maximum points (20 pts race win + 3 pts pole), and going into the last two races at Suzuka October 28/29, it's now a 3-way battle for the championship:
Miyata 94 pts
Lawson 86 pts
Nojiri 84 pts
I'm rooting for Lawson to get an AlphaTauri/Boss seat next year. He still needs to perform and close out this SF season strong.

It seems that Red Bull has to have a seat for him in 2025. Not sure how that contract is written, but Red Bull would be crazy to risk him leaving.

What is this "race week" you reference?
There seems to have been so much break time this season, I almost watched a nascar race last weekend.

The 3 week summer break is not something new.
Posted on 8/21/23 at 7:27 am to BestBanker
Always have a summer break and there’s been at least 2 cancelled races. Also not sure how new you are but they don’t race every weekend. Sometimes they race 2 consecutive Sundays but they also have weeks off. May be dependent on the logistics of travel but someone with more experience may chime in.
