Goes to show that being able to talk about a sport is a hell of a lot different than being able to actually coach it.

That was Stamkos’ rookie year and IIRC he got off to a really shitty start and Melrose got canned with the quickness. But he never should have been hired in the first place. It was over a decade since he had coached the Kings.

He did take the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals once. So I guess he wasn't that bad. But that was when he was 36. 2 years later he gets fired. And is out of coaching until the Lightning hire him 14 years later. But they only give him 16 games before axing him. And then he goes right back to TV. I don't see how you can properly evaluate someone when you only give them 16 games.
