After final pit stops, Jimmie is in P7 and ahead of two of his teammates!

VeeKay fading fast. Jimmie up to P6.

What a finish. Race dominated by McLaughlin, then nipped at the line by Newgarden!

Incredible race for Penske: P1, P2, P4.
Very good race for Ganassi: P3, P5, P6, P7.
Absolute disaster for Andretti: P12, P24, P26, P27.

So following up on my earlier post, my takeaway is that I would go again probably next year. Took me probably 25 percent of race to gather myself and focus, then was annoyed they would run so many yellow flag laps and not just red flag and reset.
The last approximate 100 laps though were solid and great racing and I was zoned in. Several passes, was pulling for Ericson, Will Power had some nice passes too.
Crowd was small but I knew from past races on TV it would be in Texas, had seats in Turn 1/2 with the deck, couches, tables, tvs and separate beer/liquor setup. Would sit there again.
Ending was legit, worth it to me since it cost me 1/10th of what F1 would these days.

Yeah the one problem being at the race is that it's harder to keep track of everything without the TV on-screen info and the race info you can get on the computer. I like keeping track of as much as possible, to get a better sense of evolving strategies, especially when there are a few full-course yellows.

Yea exactly, I used my phone alot which I do at races. My last two races were Austin and Singapore 2018 for F1. Atmospheres are different obviously but for my comfort, drink access, and phone service so I could follow IndyCar App, it was better than my experience in Austin.
I had to adjust to multiple pit stops and where everyone was positioned early on, but like I mentioned by final 100 laps I was zoned in, had the info I needed and the racing was good.
So, good experience.

Impressive result for Santino. Filling in and didn’t have hardly anytime in that car. He needs to be back in Indy full time. I know he wants to try other things but I think he is perfect for Indy.

We sat there--part of a country club area--once for an IndyCar race, and it was great. People didn't believe me when I told them we had granite counters and AC in the bathroom. I think the deal back then was club members had first dibs on the seats, but any unsold a week before the race went on sale to the public. Not sure how it works now.

May work the same way now, I bought week of the race.

Marcus Ericcson has quietly become a very good Indy car driver.

IndyCars are at Long Beach!
Suck it F1
1st practice at 5:15 pm CT. Unfortunately it's only on the Peacock app.

Qualifying notes:
Herta has picked up where he left off after winning last year’s rescheduled Long Beach GP in September. He should be the heavy favorite to win tomorrow.
Another great qualifying effort from Felix Rosenqvist. His teammate Pato O’Ward has struggled this weekend.
Romain Grosjean was a strong threat for pole and would have started P2, but unsurprisingly he pulled a Grosjean on his last lap, pushing too hard in a bid for pole, hitting the wall and causing a red flag. So he lost his two fastest laps and was relegated to the bottom of the Fast 6.
For reference, here is the current top half of the season standings:
P01 Scott McLaughlin (Penske / Chevy) 97 pts
P02 Will Power (Penske / Chevy) 69 pts
P03 Alex Palou (Ganassi / Honda) 67 pts
P04 Josef Newgarden (Penske / Chevy) 65 pts
P05 Marcus Ericsson (Ganassi / Honda) 58 pts
P06 Scott Dixon (Ganassi / Honda) 55 pts
P07 Rinus VeeKay (Carpenter / Chevy) 50 pts
P08 Colton Herta (Andretti / Honda) 50 pts
P09 Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank / Honda) 39 pts
P10 Romain Grosjean (Andretti / Honda) 35 pts
P11 Jimmie Johnson (Ganassi / Honda) 35 pts
P12 Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan / Honda) 34 pts
P13 Pato O'Ward (McLaren / Chevy) 33 pts
P14 Takuma Sato (Coyne / Honda) 31 pts

pumped for this race today...can Grosjean not wreck and finally win one? He was looking great until Axel pointed out he pulled a Grosjean.
About 70 degrees and cloudy in Long Beach today...
