So max needs to out score Charles by 8 points in Japan to win the WDC. I’m going to Austin and I’d love to see max win the WDC there. If max wins next week Charles needs to finish 2nd and max can’t have the fastest lap. Plausible

Japan should be a good track for RBR.

Chuck ain’t winning it this year

Ferrari didn’t have the speed to pass on the straights, even with DRS, and the corners were essentially no pass zones due to moisture. Checo was likely pushing just hard enough to stay ahead Leclerc but then when he needed to add some time separation he dropped the hammer.
I did hear a podcast that mentioned that the tight buildings on this course negatively impacted aerodynamics on trailing cars until they were 8 seconds back.

They were very short straights.

quote:Took a look at the data screen for the last 13ish minutes of the race and it wasn't really that Leclerc fell off. Perez hit another gear that Leclerc didn't have. Perez and Leclerc were both doing consistent low-mid 1:49s. After Perez got the announcement about the investigation, he started doing 1:48s consistently. Leclerc continued to do 1:49s.
What lap did he start to fall off?
With 9 minutes left to go in the race, every single one of Perez's laps save the last one was a 1:48 and got as low as 1:48.1. By the time Leclerc did a 1:48 he was already 3 seconds behind and he only did two of them and they were both high 1:48s. On the second to last lap of the race Perez did his second 1:48.1 and Leclerc did a 1:49 flat.
So it really wasn't that Leclerc slowed down as much as Perez just drove off.

's like they kicked in Perez to another gear and he pulled away. Very strange.
On that track with the rain there was no point in having drivers try to get a 10 second gap all the time because they knew there would be safety cars to bunch them back up and it would just waste tires. They knew leclerc couldn't pass and were content to let him stay close until they needed the 5 seconds and knew they could get it.

So it wasn't rigged?
Who woulda thunk it!!!

There was no rain during the race and they all were on slicks at the end.
I agree that Singapore breeds safety cars.

Is there a chance Ferrari pitwall saw something in the data for LeClerc's engine and wanted him to ease off so they could still finish 2nd/3rd? At the end of the weekend, Singapore was a very good showing for Ferrari (relative to Mercedes)

Cant find it, but thats what I was looking for. Only found it on some pay site.

Didnt realize Perez was that much faster. I guess everyone setting fastest laps messed me up.

But there was only a single dry line on most turns. Get off that and you were in the wall.

Are you saying that teams dont cheat and the FIA doesnt do things that impact the outcome of races?

So Porsche seems to have officially shut down their F1 hopes.
I, for one, am completely shocked at this turn of events. Porsche seemed so geniune this time.

I just thought it was weird that he dropped off so quick as soon as a penalty was mentioned, drewbie?(I think) explained the lap times and that Perez turned it up and everyone else just puttered along.
If you could quote where I said "ferrari let redbull win" Id really appreciate it. Otherwise go ahead and stfu.

Feel like this race was rigged. Leclerc was on his arse, then the last 2 laps checo magically opens a 6+ second lead?

meh, I made a comment and was proven wrong, it wasnt that outlandish given the teams are always cheating and the fia changing the rules midrace.
