How many dudes would be competitive in this year's AM car?

Does stroll even compete with vettel though? Honestly, I don't even know.

He's nothing more than Latiffi without the wrecks.

ETA: He does seem like a good dude and I'd rather him get a second chance than some of the others.

I personally think F1 has too much old blood to be truly competitive. Teams hold on to old drivers far longer than they should. Name recognition keeps old drivers in rides. F1 is too expensive to risk the car to a young guy but it makes it very uncompetitive. 80% of the drivers have no chance of winning a championship. Indy car is so young and so competitive. Sorry, but time to ditch guys like Alonso and Vettel and move on.

Seems most weren't about him, but that AT/RBR didn't need to please Honda. Now, maybe they do with RBPT being pushed to 2026 they still want to accommodate Honda.

Part of the problem is there are only 20 seats. Back in the day they had more cars than slots on the grid. And then you have guys racing til 40, or more, now so it's harder for guys to get a seat.

Also guys are getting seats much younger now. It wasn't uncommon for a guy to be 30, with a shitload of experience, before getting a chance in F1. Now guys like Newgarden will get no shot as he's too old. And frankly he seems to be a better driver than Herta.

These days if you don't get a shot in F1 by the time you're 24 you probably aren't getting one.

Yup, it's ridiculous. A few figures in F1 appear to be intrigued by Herta's youth and raw speed. A couple times a season Herta will absolutely dominate a race. But they ignore that Herta still occasionally makes massive unforced errors and has been in IndyCar long enough that he should be competing for championships by now (if he's that good). Meanwhile, Newgarden is relentless and consistent like Dixon and has won two championships recently and no one thinks he's a candidate for F1 because he isn't in his early 20's.

Also, among the younger guys I don't know why Herta and O'Ward had been getting all the F1 chatter the last couple of years, but no one talked about Palou after his championship last year, until McLaren showed interest recently. It's not about who's the best, it's about who gets influential people to promote them. That's why sons of former racers have an easier time getting to the top leagues. Most of them more closely resemble Mick than Max.

Whoever puts Herta in their car better be ready for their budget to take a hit rebuilding wadded up cars.

Haas looking decent in FP3. May have a shot at getting both cars in Q3.

Alfa has fallen off a cliff so may be a good opportunity to gain a chunk of points on them if the weekend goes well.

Quali hasn’t been the problem for Ferrari, it’s anything that takes strategy in the race.

Think Alonso is questioning his decision to go to AM every race? The AM cannot compete with the Alpine
