Apparently McLaren had a press conference scheduled for today that has now been cancelled. Speculation is the CRB found that Alpine does indeed have a contract with Piastri so now McLaren has to come to an agreement with Alpine that will likely involve lots of dollars.

Again. Speculation at this point.

So @McLarenF1 have won and their contract with
@OscarPiastri is the only one to be recognised so Piastri drives for Mclaren in 2023

I think the break and it being Spa helped this crowd. There is a large back room as well, so there is plenty of room.

I wasn’t familiar with the dispute, what was it?

I know that his contract said he had to have a seat by Aug 1 or he was free, but how did McLaren get involved before that and why part of dispute?

Wonder why they cancelled the presser. That's odd.

And Alpine looks like a bunch of morons. There's no way a driver should just be hanging out there with no contract if a team wants him to drive for them.

It came out the Aug 1st date was never a thing.

CRB didn't have knowledge of his contract with Alpine, it wasn't an F1 contract so it didn't go to the CRB.

McLaren signs Piastri.

Alpine claim while it isn't an F1 contract, it was still a valid contract and Alpine had done everything on their end. Which it certainly seemed like it did.

Alpine's claim was that he had to be given an F1 seat ane he was going to have one.

Never really heard Piastri's side of the argument. Something came out that their claim was that the contract was never valid.

Now, can Alpine go after Piastri in a civil case? Maybe, is it worth it....

Watching FP2 and they're pretty much said Gasly to Alpine is pretty much a done deal.

they stalled piastri trying to keep Alonso and lost both. They are trying to challenge the Ferrari race strategists for the clown award for 2022

For those that didnt watch FP2... two things:

1) Piastri contract with McClaren was signed July 4th (British GP). When you match timelines of he-said, she-said + Riccairdo stuff... it puts high drama into the fold. Cheers for Piastri keeping silent until now.

2) Crofty and Kravitz got into it on air. (FP2 time ~40min)

The visor tear off that Leclerc ran over came from Stroll.

Where is left for Ric? Williams? Haas if Mick gets booted?

It is starting to annoy me that Lance Stroll is still out there flopping.

If Mick leaves it would mean to Alfa/Audi/Sauber, I guess.

So the open seats are Alfa, Williams, Haas and AT at that point? Maybe 2 at AT.

Mick is already out, was eluded to earlier in week. He’s no longer a Ferrari academy driver end of 2022

quote:

Schumacher's original Ferrari Driver Academy contract will come to what one source called a 'natural end' after this season. Although there has been no confirmation from Haas, it's accepted in the paddock that Schumacher won't be retained by the US-owned team for a third season in 2023, with Antonio Giovinazzi currently a favourite to land the seat alongside Kevin Magnussen. The remaining open drives on the grid include Alpine and Williams, with Schumacher's close friend Esteban Ocon backing him as a candidate for the former. He has also been associated with an AlphaTauri seat, although Colton Herta has now emerged as a more likely candidate should a vacancy arise. There is a possibility that Schumacher could lose out in the driver market shuffle in the coming days, potentially leaving Germany with no representative on the 2023 grid, unless Nico Hulkenberg is chosen by Alpine.

I feel like he gets a bad rep.

Sure he doesn't have his seat without his father, but it's not like he's proven he doesn't belong like Latifi. He's an average, mayve below average, but F1 worthy driver imo.

From all accounts, it seems like he's a good dude too.

If we are being fair, stroll doesn't wreck people so he's got that going.

But he was only competitive when he had the previous year world champion Mercedes car. Other than that, you'd hardly even know he was racing.

Vettel isn't competitive either.

How many dudes would be competitive in this year's AM car?

Lawrence summed it up. He believes Lance could win a world title if he gives him the best car, or maybe 2nd best car on the grid. Might not be wrong.

Until then it doesn't matter who the driver is for Aston Point Stroll India
