Omar's response was great. Basically said he couldn't wait for others to take a break.

So as I've mentioned before, this is my first season full blown following F1

So youre entitled to your opinion, but absolutely no offense in saying this, I hope those that dont like it just bail rather than complain. Not saying you, but we could use some ppl giving up on it and the Netflix effect to wear off.

Yesterday wasnt a full team orders, Max was on better tires and diff strategy. Also they finished 1-2, why hold up a faster car by racing each other?

Team Orders in race 6 is too early imo, but yesterday was not the same.

Also, team orders have been going on for years so thats where my like it or leave it comment comes from.

At the end of the day, this season is awesome (until Merc shows up routinely).

You misspelled Racey Spice.

Idk who on this board came up with it but Racey Space is the official name of the Red Bull Racing team principal.

On a more serious note:

Now Max probably would have passed Sergio seeing that he was on fresher tires,

It sucks for Sergio, but its clear that Red Bull is trying to keep the Driver's Cup from going down to the wire. If they can lock it up before the last few races of the season, they will to avoid another contested title.

I'm making my way through books about the history of the sport and it does not appear this is a new strategy or way of dealing with things. RBR isn't first and and they won't be last.

They always will be, even when "we let them race" is uttered.

Some teams hide it, others are unapologetic. It is a team sport afterall.

I know its not huge, but they did give Sergio the fastest lap to go along with his strategy, right?

Max is an unreal driver, but 6 races in and Sergio is showing that he can compete, but his team is not allowing him the chance to.

He can compete with the other teams while driving a RB.

Serg is not ever going to beat Max heads up in the same car.

Racey Spice has to consider they are in a battle with Chuck for the WDC with the Mercs lurking and improving. The WDC coming down to one point is certainly not unheard of, so every point counts and Racey is looking at that.

Serg's job is to win/place well in races that Max falls out of for whatever reason. Not battle him for position.

Yep.

And his point is like running any other business; If expenses rise you may have to reduce budget in other areas.

It doesn't bother me enough to bail. I watched every minute of the race. But it does take away from the competitiveness IMO.

But what if Sergio was allowed to pass when he had the faster car? Could he not have passed Russell and in turn built up a bigger lead to where they couldn't justify a "let Max pass" order?

I realize that. I think it just kind of sucks that in just six weeks in, Sergio is Bottas 2.0. But that was probably already known before the season started.

At least own up to it in interviews. I think it would make it better if you didn't have team leads lying every time they were asked about it.

This is the first time I've seen yall call him Racey Spice. That's definitely what I'll be going with from here on out.

AMuS has a good article on the budget cap arguments as well. Interestingly Haas is called "divided". Might have something to do with the translation, but suprised they are not 100% against. Matty must be in Gene and Guenther's ears.

If RB didn't instruct Perez to let max thru then there was a very real danger of max stuffing it in under Perez and turning a 1-2 into a double DNF. Max has the same Vettel problem with RB team orders. They only go one way.

I'm certainly no fan of LH but I've seen him go thru on bottas and give the spot back later if it didn't help. I don't see max ever doing that. Maybe he has I just don't remember but the the idea of him letting checo back through at the end yesterday is almost comical to even consider.

Now LH played some games with nico his last year but it was a 2 horse race so no real problem there imo

Checo knew before he signed his contract that he was #2 and would never be anything more while at RBR. None of us were in the room for negotiations, but I would be very surprised if that was not at least verbally spelled out.

If you're already getting WCC points for 1-2, let the driver who has a better shot at the WDC get the 1st place points. RBR has let their drivers race before, and well...

You can see where Senna understeered and drifted into Prost.....

Fangio used to boot teammates out of their cars and takeover driving to get the win. It's certainly not new.

Maybe, but F1 is ruthless when it comes to situations like that when it benefits the team or makes money. Which is sorta the appeal in a dark kind of way

Sergio is Bottas 2.0.

Sergio knew what he was getting into and was the perfect #2 last year. The zeroes on his checks probably calm his nerves.
