It's pretentious opinions like this that would turn someone off from the sport more than having a mediocre guy ask a few questions. Get over yourself

Saying a known dumbass should not be doing the interviews is not being pretentious.
btw-Most F1 fans, at least those not brought in solely by DTS, know who Prost is. Unless you followed Trans Am racing in the late 80's, you probably don't know who Willy T is.
I wonder how many race fans outside the US can name one TA driver...
The point is, he isn't a good interviewer. He got the job because he was in the shallow pool of minority retired race drivers. Not due to any on screen talent.
He was as cringeworthy as the police sirens and football helmets.
eta-Danica would have been a huge upgrade. Or Mario.

Scott Pruett is the most obvious in recent times but in the 60s all the big names were also in TransAm

Is there any talk of another American F1 based team? With the sudden popularity you would think so.

I understand obtuse having disdain for senna because of McLaren
I have vast amounts of respect for Aryton and will sing his praises at any time as being the fastest driver over one lap I have ever seen. But I will also bust his super-fans balls at the drop of a hat. I have a canned argument I have used 100s of times "proving" Prost was the better of that bitter rivalry. There have been lots of great drivers and good people that have sold their souls to drive/work for the dark side.
Also to be clear I make a huge distinction between the Mclaren prior to mid 1970 on the Lavant Straight at Goodwood and the dark shadows that built afterward. This all culminated in Ron Dennis (F1's Iago, just pure motiveless malignity). The man was a cancer on McLaren itself and a huge part of the reason Mclaren doesn't even own the MTC anymore.
This face says I hate life and I wanna drag everyone and everything down with me.
My burning hate of a 1,000 suns is a bit of a windup, it is only like 500 or so suns worth of hate.

quote:I've been watching the 1979 season on YouTube and its hard to overlook gilles villeneuve. He eventually lost the war to Scheckter but some of his drives were just legendary. Such a stark contrast to today when we pretty much know the first 2 rows on the grid. Back then the entire field was like the midfield today. And Renault was birthing the turbo era but a bit hamstrung with their driver lineup. Watching Ferrari changing tires with a purely manual locking tool was amazing. Races of that period would often have the leader lap everyone except the top 4 but even a 15 second lead wasn't always safe either. The variety in technology made for compelling racing and no lead was ever really safe

The 2.07M figure included 90 minutes of prerace. For the race itself, ABC averaged 2.6M:

Can we get some recent F1 pictures with women?

The best I (or anyone) can do is mid-70s. Lella Lombardi started 12 race in 75-77 with March, Williams, and maybe on other team. The only woman to ever score a point in F1, technically it was just a half-point since it was a shortened race. Her 1/2 point winning race (6th place) was in Barcelona at the Montjuic street circuit which that year was so poorly designed Fittipaldi refused to race and a Lola ran off the track and killed four spectators and the race was stopped mid-length.
I always wondered is she would have gone agro if she had been standing beside Bernie when he uttered "women should be dressed in white, like all the other domestic appliances". I don't know who tall Lella was but at Bernie's 5'3" I assume she would have towered over him.
In her point winning March
Maybe it was Lella's ghost that took Bernie's watch...
