If they make the swap it'll be someone that comes with financial backing. Hulk has said he doesn't want to be in a back marker team but maybe he's had a change of heart but I still don't see it being him.
I could see it being Antonio though. He's got backing, he's got experience, he's got Ferrari ties, and Ferrari still want an Italian in F1.
Yep...Gio is listed as a reserve driver for Haas....and Kubica is still kickin on a reserve driver

Yup, dudes dad was in meetings with putin on how to navigate NATO sanctions. Anything he says is a lie.

Doesn't Andretti have a son/nephew that is still racing or viable for F1? That could be interesting to see, somewhat as a precursor to Andretti trying to get into Indy.
We talking about Marco here? Dude got ushered out of his own Dad’s IndyCar team, and he’s old (relatively speaking).

Damn, Mazespin’s dad looks like Guile from Street Fighter II.

I am guessing we see Pietro Fittipaldi in the seat in the near term. That is if Haas has the money to test and race. This may bury Haas though, if it does I would expect Andretti to step in.

It is funny how Putin is able to have a room full of men all equally as short as he is, even with his lifts that are canceled by the extremely saggy break in his pants cuff.

Names various journos are throwing around for Nikita's spot:
Oscar Piastri
Pietro Fittipaldi
Nico Hulkenberg
Antonio Giovinazzi
Colton Herta
Callum Ilott
Robert Shwartzman (but he is Russian)
Liam Lawson
Juri Vips
I still think Fittipaldi has an inside track. Should we start the bring back Kimi chant, who am I kidding it already started.

I noticed in the NASCAR thread they were talking about old paint schemes and thought it might be interesting to show some of our favorite liveries over the years.
For me, #1 is absolutely the JPS scheme on the Lotus. Specifically with 72 which had the gold number field on the sidepod:
I have a good friend from the UK and apparently, this scheme worked because when he smoked as a younger man he specifically chose John Player Special because of the Lotus scheme.

Wait are there serious discussions to cut Mazaspin?
Def think Haas drops sponsor but doubt they drop him.

Just about every pay driver in history has lost their seat when their money dries up unless they have proven themselves to be worthy of being paid. He is definitely not worth a salaried seat in F1 right now. That being said we don't know how far in advance payments have been made for his seat.

Does his dad fall into the sanctioned group?

Good question. Is he an "oligarch"?

Benetton B187!
(Driver: Thierry Boutsen)
Lotus 102D
I made the 1/20 scale Tamiya model of this one.
(Drivers: Johnny Herbert and Mika Häkkinen)

There has been speculation on that but I have seen nothing definitive. If Russia gets cut off from SWIFT that may make his distinction irrelevant.

Those dudes are rich as frick, yet they can't hire a tailor. They look like they all went in together on the buy 2 get 1 free sale at Men's Warehouse.

It sucks age dulls the senses and reactions. F1 won't be the same without Kimi.

The worst is Putin who looks like he didn't even bother to have his pants or his sleeves hemmed on his off the rack suit. Outside of Nikita, there is not a shirt cuff to be seen. Maybe they should just stick to tracksuits.

While you shouldn't draw anything from testing time I am pretty confident Merc is off the pace. Those late C5 runs to get to the top of the timesheet look like some crumbs for their fans. It is just not like Mercedes to do short runs on gumball tires in early testing. Two things: they still might be sandbagging but it has a different feel than normal sandbagging from the Brackley boys, however, they are also the best at developing a car in-season so even if they are off the pace it doesn't mean they will still be at the next tests.
The RB18 in the hands of Max quietly put in the most impressive laps of the day. This bothers me because the only thing nearly as bad as continued Mercedes domination would be another RBR dominant period. The only buoy for me is LeClerc had the most impressive single lap of the test session with his 1:19.689 on C3 tires on the third lap of a 17 lap run where all the remaining laps stayed in the low 1:20s
Great analysis, Obtuse
I keep thinking Brawn was such a figure in the original Merc development and he isn’t there for this new set of rules, that has to hurt them.
I’m optimistic McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari open up the season at the front of the grid.
