Seems like Jerry Dipoto has been way too quiet in Seattle lately. Surely he’s got something up his sleeve, no chance he could ever let a deadline pass without being super active

Aren’t they interested in Merrifield?

Send Soto to the Yankees for Frazier, Andujar, Florial, Gil, and Schmidt

Padres are interested in dealing Hosmer per Rosenthal. Good luck with that.

If Boston could move some of those bad contracts, then the Padres can move Hosmer.

I saw last night someone mentioned Hosmer + salary relief to the Yankees for Frazier + another low level prospect. Would give the Yankees a LH-hitting player in the lineup who can play defense.

The Yankees announced Monday that they’ve acquired right-handed reliever Clay Holmes from the Pirates in exchange for minor league infielders Diego Castillo and Hoy Park. Catcher Rob Brantly, who’d been on the roster as a Covid-related replacement player, has been returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to open a roster spot.

@dougherty_jesse
Context on Max Scherzer, according to those w/ knowledge of the situation: Scherzer doesn’t plan to use his 10-5 rights to veto a trade to remain in Washington. He’s open to moving. That said, he could use them to influence his destination if WSH has multiple offers on the table.

Yankees must have hated Park after he has been lighting up AAA

I was under the impression that he would waive his veto if he went to a place where he could negotiate a new deal

Max is poised to be the highest priced pure rental since Chapman, I think.

Max may be second ring hunting and more than willing to play the free agent market after the new CBA.

Verlander should have been worth more than what Houston gave up

Which isn't saying much and I wouldn't expect a similar return

If traded with no 1st round pick attached to his name, he could do a 2 year 80m deal

I guess an equivalent to Torres would be the Nats getting CJ Abrams which would be insane. But I mean it's Preller.

I don't think a top 20 guy is likely at all. 50-80 and some throw ins.
