These threads really highlight just how many people here don't understand the sport at all.

Did you just say Dale never moved anyone?

Damn, it got REAL bright there for a few seconds.

I’d be interested to see Cindric’s helmet cam.

Today is the actual 20th anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt.

Came home from 10 year old baseball practice to see that dreadful press conference on TV. Didn't seem real.

I was pretty young when it happened. I remember watching the race, but don’t remember watching the wreck happen. However, I remember when I saw the report on TV that he had died. I remember my Dad had gone to Sunday evening church and I called him at church to tell him, but I think he had already heard.

I was at a Birmingham Bolts game. The entire parking lot was buzzing with the news. Complete strangers going to each other asking if they had heard. It was surreal.

Watched the race with my family as an 11 year old and had just a very eerie feeling when he wrecked.

Remember it like it was yesterday. I cried after I found out.

During the off season that year, ESPN ran a special about nascar's hardest hits. They had one where Schrader wrecked in turn 1 at Dayton a few years previous. His car caught the bottom of the track, hooked right and he went straight up the track into the wall. He said it was the hardest hit he ever took. Earnhardt's hit looked just like it. As soon as I saw him take off, I knew it was bad.

If you've not seen it, you should watch the special The Day It goes through the whole incident from start to finish. A lot of it is from Michael Waltrip's point of view. But they interview Scharader, MIkey, DW and RC. It's a really good watch and will bring a tear to your eye.

Anyone remember Childress promise Dale's mom that he wouldn't bring the 3 back? Or he'd at least change the font if he did?

I was 11 years old when I watched him go into the wall at turn 4. I never seen my dad cry before but he did when Mike made the statement of his death. It changed me and my father’s feelings about nascar for a long time. It took plenty of years to bring me back to watch it. I’ve always wondered what NASCAR would be like had he survived. I also know Newman probably wouldn’t have survived had it not been from the technological advancements since Dales death.

Chase and Martin are the road course warriors. Blaney should be pushing forthe front and Bowman isn't a slouch on the road courses either.

Larson will be an interesting one to watch as the hendricks team has a strong road program.

Heatwave is spot on. I’m digging the additions of road tracks and Bristol kn dirt.
