Very significant. Steepest mid-distance track on the circuit now.
Apparently the changes are supposed to be designed to work hand in hand with the next gen cars.
AMS/SMS also had several plans and had the folks at iRacing put each version into the iRacing system to see how the next gen cars would run on it and uses that as part of the decision making process.

I don't know why you make it narrower if you're increasing banking and trying to get pack racing

Not a fan of this at first glance, but we’ll see how it goes.
I don’t get why they can’t just go to mile and a half’s and have a package that allows them to run 195-205 going into Turn 1 and have to back it down to 160-165 to keep from wrecking. Instead they’re just making it to where they hold it wide open and run 180 all the way around.
And to tzimme, Larson is going to win this weekend.

Chase to race against his dad in the SRX finale Saturday night at Nashville Speedway.

There are some concerning rumors out there today about the Next-Gen car. The rumor, and I stress the word rumor, is that engineers have found that some of the crashes they’ve simulated with the Next-Gen car would be fatal if they occurred in a real race.

Some good news for NASCAR. Reported by Adam Stern:

@NASCAR has struck a deal with @NBCUniversal and @USA_Network to green-light a new docu-series revolving around this year’s Cup Series playoffs.
The series will be called “Race for the Championship,” be stretched over eight episodes on USA Network and debut in 2022.

If their is even a slight chance this is true they need to hold off until they get it figured out.

What parts are “failing” causing the injuries/deaths?
I look at Jayski every day and haven’t seen any news or articles about that yet.

I'm not sure about what the actual failures are. The thing that has really caused concern about these rumors is that Chase Briscoe seemed to verify that there is a real issue in a thread on Reddit.

Oh wow! Hope they find the issues and correct them instead of just rolling with the car like it is.

Do you know if this is from the robotic test at Talladega, or have there been other tests as well?
I know NASCAR said they ran the test at Dega with a biometric crash test dummy and are sending the data to several experts for review, but are not making any more public comments until after that review.

Let's hope they get whatever flaws ironed out. We've gone 20 years w/o a death in any of the 3 major series, lets keep that streak going. No need to sacrifice safety in lieu of race day performance. You can accomplish both.
In other news, just downloaded my tickets for Sunday. Earnhardt Grandstand, Sec.122, Row 12, Seats 6 & 7. First race in 5 years(Darlington). Can't wait.

This. Narrowing it by 15 feet is just a guaranteed way to make it a 1 groove track. At least how it is now, there are multiple grooves.
I'd like to see them go back to original config myself. We need less Charlotte Clones.

They put out a release about crash test data. It’s being reviewed now.

Was that the year Truex won?
I was there the following year when Hamlin beat Truex for the win.

Yep, I believe so.
The first time we went in 13 I believe Kenseth won. No cautions.

I’m cheap so I got the $39 tickets in Petty. Worried about the weather though. Section 114. This is year 6 in a row for me and sat in Petty every time so far

We won't be that far away from ya. I'll have my orange Hooters #9 hat on. My wife has short curly red hair w/glasses. I also wear glasses.
The real cheap seats was the East(Elliott) Turn and the Weaver(RIP). Our first couple of races at AMS we sat in the Weaver. The good 'ol days.

Ya this week has been crazy. Torrential downpours then sun. Just the type of weather to ruin races. They may be trying to finish this one on Wednesday.
