I'm guessing that Choupique dude is LSU's version...

Damn, what happened to Rice?! They used to have a solid program

Those guys are nuts but Deggs has done some truly head scratching shite this year with the weekend rotation and with the batting lineup. Today for example he started Chipper Menard on the mound and started Kevin Fitzgerald at 3rd when the dude is hitting sub .100 on the year the day after Borgogno had 5 RBI.
Cajuns lost though because the pitchers were terrible, starting with Menard who couldn’t even finish the first inning. Just way too many walks and hit batters. Try to find the last team to lose when hitting 7 home runs.

Good lord that first inning was terrible and set the tone
We get 5-6 decent innings today and we probably get the sweep

That funky sidearm action can work in middle relief to throw the other team off, but I'm not seeing that working as a starter

Tech dropping 50ish runs on Rice this weekend.

Came here to post the same thing. They used to be pretty damn good, 40-50 win team every year and went to a bunch of CWS in the 2000’s.
Their former long-time coach retired when he was 80. Maybe he stayed too long and let the program decline

The Rice decline definitely started while Graham was there but Bragga is in his 3rd season there now and things are only getting worse

I think it's obvious that LSU has the most talent on it's roster, but who would you say has the best TEAM? (Not best record per se, but which team plays the best baseball all around)

quote:Right now it appears to be LaTech. Two strong starting pitchers with a 3rd and 4th that throw very well at times. Bullpen lacks depth, but they have several good arms in there too. The lineup is very impressive. I believe they have 9 or 10 guys batting over 300. I question their baserunning, and they aren't what I would call a strong team defensively. If they can avoid errors and boneheaded baserunning mistakes, I could see them slipping into Omaha.

That's what I was thinking too, although I haven't seen too much of ULL this season. I think they could cause headaches in whichever Regional they get in, for sure.

According to D1, that would be in Ruston as Tech is a “slam dunk” to host a regional. I still don’t believe it. I’d lose my shot if that happens. I think they need to at least split this weekend against S Miss to have a chance.
This is from their weekly chat:
Guest: What does it take from now until sites are selected for LA Tech to host a regional?
Kendall Rogers: From where I sit, La Tech is a slam dunk to host right now, especially with no one else in the state looking host-worthy at the moment.

That would be awesome for them, and bring in some sweet regional revenue. When was the last time Ruston hosted a regional?

Pretty sure they never have.

Yeah never. Would make for quite the story in the first season in the new Love Shack after the tornado.

Here is something fun. Going into the weekend all five Louisiana schools sit atop the Southland Conference standings ahead of the eight schools from Texas:
Southeastern 13-7
McNeese 12-7
UNO 12-8
Northwestern State 9-7
Nicholls 9-7
