Talk about your early starts.
ULM is pushing this weekend's series back a day because of weather.

The team has actually been playing well lately... If only they hadn’t sucked so much in non-conference

I don’t think I would trust Troy Dannen to make a good hire in baseball anyway. Jewett was such a terrible choice with Cannizzaro, Riser, Gautreau etc all out there

I’m not saying he’s a bad AD, just doesn’t know Baseball or could give two shits about it

We’re in agreement although at that time Gautreau was not a real option. But he’s the AD, if Kansas wouldn’t take him we’re going to be stuck with him for a long time. He should get some help next time around. The Jewett hire was 100% him, didn’t even use a search firm. Pretty crazy for a guy with no college baseball background

I understand the other sports are obviously a priority but at the same time it’s not that hard for Tulane to be good in baseball. With the bare minimum effort you can be a machine with the local recruiting and resources you have.

He may not be a real option the next time the job is open either, but for completely different reasons.

Nice. I saw Tulane had an away series postponed last weekend. That's probably good. If they can win this series and win the series against Memphis next weekend, they will put themselves in a good position to finish 2nd or 3rd in the league and avoid ECU until the finals of the conference tournament.

They could throw Olthoff first game of the American Tourney and maybe have him available for the final against ECU.

This is true, he was named assistant coach of the year by D1Baseball or some other publication in the past couple years. I believe that Kendall Rogers or Aaron Fitt even mentioned in a chat one time a couple years ago that Gautreau might not be willing to leave Mississippi State if the Tulane job opens up.
But when Tulane hired Jewett, Gautreau had been out of coaching since the end of 2014 when he and Rick Jones were let go at Tulane.
He didn’t get back into coaching until 2018 when Andy Cannizaro hired him onto his staff at Miss St

I was just looking at the Southland standings, I can't imagine this has happened in a while, but the top 5 teams in the league (by winning pct) are the 5 Louisiana schools. That's pretty crazy.

Tulane beat Wichita State 3-2 to sweep the double header and start 5-1 in the AAC

With the exception of East Carolina the rest of the schedule is pretty easy so get ready for another year of Travis Jewett

Tulane gives Wichita State the broomstick to win 6 in a row. I don’t know if they’ll keep this up but an at-large doesn’t seem impossible anymore
