Demare wins another stage. Not sure if he takes the points jersey from Sagan. I think Sagan was 3rd or worse. Waiting to see the official classification.
edit: Matthews in second. Peter is in 8th place in the final standings of this stage. Wow.

Demare again. Man, Sagan just doesn't look like the Sagan of the past.
He definitely doesn't have the high-end snap right now. I have no idea if it is just age, 2020 or something else.
He is second in the points now with 67 to Demare's 106. It wasn't a great leadout but guys were passing him coming to the line, 8th ain't a good look on Peter.
Peter is also usually the king of hoovering up points at every opportunity, even if he doesn't win the day. A classic example of how not to do it was today's intermediate sprint where his leadout man finished ahead of him.

I wouldnt be surprised if France is locked back down shortly. Giro may be the end of the season unfortunately.

Demare again with the win. I believe Sagan in Second.
Demare may run away with the points jersey. That is a hat trick of stage wins.

Paris–Roubaix is my favorite of the monuments and I suppose for many others too. I do hope we aren't seeing the end of the season.
For those that enjoy dirt along with pavement, the Olympic Channel is airing the Mountain Bike World Championships. There are a lot of replays so it shouldn't be too hard to catch. Both men's and women's XC and DH.

Wait no Cobles racing this year? I love watching them ride the cobles. I guess since Brittany has the depart for TDf the Alps will be last and Alpe D'Huez and Ventoux are in the mix.

Dumoulin and Roglic are going to "share" the leadership of Jumbo at the Vuelta...
That strategy has never ever backfired.

Live update they are over the largest climb of the day, breakaway over 8 minutes ahead of the peloton. 73K to go.
Edit: the breakaway will work, Alex Dowsett going for the stage win. 30 sec advantage over 3 riders, and 10+ min over the peloton 9k to go.
Edit 2: Everyone across the line, no real changes to any of the overall jerseys. Alex Dowsett wins the stage.

I mentioned the Mountain Bike Worlds this weekend before but if you even have a remote interest in dirt watch the Women's Elite XC the battle for 2nd is epic.

Paris-Tours was on today. I won't spoil it for anyone that wants to watch a repeat. It is interesting to see gravel sections added to races... to sell gravel bikes.

Finally saw the race for the day. Almeida still has the pink Jersey but he lost some time on GC contenders in the final moments. Not enough to lose the Jersey but it’s going to be a fight as 1 min separates the top 5 riders.
Another day for the breakaway as two riders ultimately finished out front with Guerreiro winning the stage from EF.
Tomorrow is a rest day for the riders, followed by 3 days of hills and one day of flats. I wouldn’t suspect Almeida would lose the Jersey till possibly the time Trial on Friday. A difficult one of 36K. The race really picks up after the ITT, with 4 mountain stages 1 hill stage and one flat stage before the final ITT in Milano.

i enjoy seeing gravel sections in races not for the sake of selling gravel bikes, but as a reminder that all bikes are gravel bikes.
that is, your road bike will do just fine on gravel.
i used to be heavy into cyclocross racing when the gravel trend started, and actually owned a cross bike and a gravel bike. there were differences between the two, to be sure. more than marketing - a higher bottom bracket, shorter wheelbase, and single chainring on the CX bike versus a lower bottom bracket, longer wheelbase, and 2x on the gravel bike. the geometry was different and the bikes felt different.
that said, the way gravel bikes are marketed now seem like a ploy to entice roadies to buy an off-road bike who simply will not buy a mountain bike. these rigs with 650 wheels, front and rear suspensions (lol) on drop-bar bikes appeal to roadies and triathlon dorks/endurance athletes in some way that a mountain bike does not. it's really odd. i see people on gravel bikes on some local mountain bike trails and just shake my head. single track is so much more fun on a mountain bike.
and don't even get me started on guys who feel like they need a gravel bike to ride hard-packed gravel paths. i'm not talking chunky fire roads with tons of washboard (though i have ridden that on a road bike), but hard-packed gravel that is nicer than some chip seal. your road bike will do just fine on that fellows!
my rant is over, for now. just don't get me started on e-bikes

Glad someone enjoyed it. It isn't often you get a sprint for XC podium places. I feel so bad for McConnell in that last technical downhill section.
