They have to get their shite together with the bottle tossing.

If you toss a bidon it has to be empty and has to be tossed off the road, if it touches the road it needs to be a 1,000 Euro fine and 20 seconds of added time.

edit: it sucks that a pre-race favorite will lose the GIRO because someone can't throw a bottle out safely.

People weren't tossing bottles, they hit a section of cobbles causing a good number of riders to lose their bottles.

You are correct, I only watched it in real-time, and the rider that I thought clearly tossed a bottle was actually pointing down to it as a warning.

Now this goes back to one of my other bitches from the TdF ITT where one rider lost his bottle right out of the start house. While it was one of the aero bottles that just snap on it is clear they need to rethink their cage choices if that hump they rode over caused roughly 10 bottles to pop out. Those wispy carbon cages like Supacaz and Lightweight that weigh 16-20g are notorious for poor grip. This is a ridiculous choice when there are plenty of choices in the mid-20g range that hold a bottle like they should, even a King Ti cage only weighs 28g.

I have a pair of Elite Paron carbon cages that have been on my CX bike for 7 or 8 years and never lost a bottle and they only weigh 30g.

I had a bottle pop out on me back in the spring and pin itself between my left side chain stay and spokes of my rear wheel. Instantly causing it to lock up. I started fish tailing but was able to keep it up and grab the bottle from out of my wheel

a bunch sprint as expected. Sagan almost had a stage win but someone else took it. Delmare I believe.

Pink Jersey doesn't change hands.

Sagan wearing the points Jersey.

Blue doesn't change hands

Pink Rider also has White.

Demare edged Sagan out. Sagan got paid big money to race the Giro this year which looks like potentially a bust. Either the year has just been bad for his prep or he is a few months past his sell-by date. Then again maybe it was the TdF relegation and its ripple effect broke him mentally.

I like Peter and hope he gets back to his top form.

Sagan is not that far off from wins. Some of it is luck and he just hasn't had much. I think he will win a few in the Giro

watching live right now. On the final climb of the day. Ganna who has already worn the pink Jersey is in the lead group. Peloton is 2 min down at the moment.

I'm not sure if I'll catch the rest of this race. Got to head out in about 30 minutes and they still have 20K to go. That's like 7km of climbing and 13 of decent.

I think as expected the groups are starting to break on this cat 1 climb.

Edit: Thomas De Gent about to be in the front group.

He's way down. Not a risk.

Would love to see Ganna's power file. I bet he did the last 10 minutes of that climb around 500 watts

Luca Wackermann got taken out by barriers that were flung into the riders by a helicopter. Two riders went down one wasn't really hurt Wackerman got knocked out and has a concussion and broken nose.

Meanwhile, the UCI is furiously measuring sock height and the width of rainbow bands on jerseys.

bump.

Race about to come back together with the exception of a few riders in the back. Likely to be a bunch sprint today. 14K to go.

Demare again. Man, Sagan just doesn't look like the Sagan of the past.
