Again, though, the theory that he has suffered a brain injury is just an internet rumor. No one has officially said he suffered a brain injury.

The lack of information is what led essentially to 16-18 hours of pure internet speculation before announcement that he is awake.
People are smart enough to realize that just because someone is conscious after a terrible wreck doesn’t mean they will survive.
It hurts nobody to say, “Ryan sustained injuries, was conscious when removed from the vehicle, but is in critical condition as he was taken to the hospital.”

Knew a young man that fell head first off a maintenance stand. To this day I don't know how he survived and as you said, his personality was changed from that point on.
