Well, that's a non-update update.

Feel like a bunch of retired drivers are going to offer to fill in here. I can't think of any drivers, besides Kurt, who left on bad terms with Roush. Still think it'll be Kenseth, because I feel like he and Ryan are buds, and I think he's still affiliated with the team in some capacity.

There’s one guy on reddit in the Ryan Newman megathread claiming he has sources that he has no broken bones or spinal injuries, but has a brain bleed and is heavily sedated.

As usual ppl on the internet continue to prove how stupid they are

There is a long list of reasons they can’t do this with the most obvious being that just bc he’s conscious going into the ambulance that doesn’t mean he wasn’t “killed”. He could’ve died anywhere from 3 minutes to hours later.

The other obvious issue is it isn’t up to NASCAR, it’s up to Newman and his family

We prolly shouldn’t speculate like this but I guess I’m going to do it anyways, a brain bleed wouldn’t fit in with “non life threatening injuries”

Brain hemorrhage has like a 60% mortality rate. Not exactly non-life threatening

Yeah, I don't know if having a brain hemorrhage to the point of requiring sedation would be considered "non-life threatening."

So his doctors don't know what they are talking about?

NASCAR can always go back and say at the time they were non life threatening and say he died of complications. This is merely damage control at this point. Very fragile situation with that amount of spotlight.

Link me to where his doctors said he had a brain hemorrhage. I don't think there has been any official statement made as to his medical condition by the hospital, NASCAR, Roush Fenway Racing, or his family since the statement last night. The brain hemorrhage theory came from reddit.

So, my point is that if it were a brain hemorrhage as the reddit theory suggested, it seems like they wouldn't have called his injuries "non-life threatening."

An serious injury is defined as:

An injury which is sustained by a person in an Accident and which:

a) requires hospitalization for more than 48 hours, commencing within seven days from the date the injury was received; or
b) results in a fracture of any bone (except simple fractures of fingers, toes or nose); or
c) involves lacerations which cause severe haemorrhage, nerve, muscle or tendon damage; or
d) involves injury to any internal organ; or
e) involves second or third degree burns, or any burns affecting more than 5 per cent of the body surface; or
f) involves verified exposure to infectious substances or injurious radiation.

I'm posting this again so that we can speculate on the actual given information at this time. Not through grapevine communication.

Gotcha. I misread your point, I think. Sorry.

Best news I’ve seen all day.
I, like most of us, thought he was gone last night.
God bless the engineers and technology that built these cars and may they continue to improve them. 10 years ago even (not even 19.. given the date) he’s a goner.

I’ve knocked on Nascar early and often and hadnt watched for years until last night.
I’ma tune in again next week. Why the hell not
